I heard about BluFin from a close friend of mine and the feedback was overwhelming positive. After hearing how my friends’ service went with the establishment I decided to go there today for lunch. I arrived at around 3:05 pm and upon entering I was greeted within a 15 second timeframe from the host, handed the main menu and sushi menu and was given the option to pick where I wanted to sit (Outside/Patio, inside with two areas, one of which is directly in front of the sushi bar and kitchen and the other on the opposite side of the restaurant). I decided to go with inside by the sushi bar and kitchen. After being sat I was greeted by my server within 2 minutes and was met with positive energy which I loved and was poured a glass of water. After another few minutes of looking over the menu my server returned and I placed my order.
Since this was my first outing here I went with four items: Popcorn Shrimp, BluFin Roll, Blue Devil Roll, and the Mongolian Beef special. Everything I had was fantastic, I made sure every plate was clean before the dish got back to the tank. The popcorn shrimp was fried just right and the sauce, omg the sauce was FIRE! The rice rounded out the dish as a palate cleanser and all components worked together perfectly. The BluFin and Blue Devil Rolls were some of the best pieces of sushi I’ve had in Michigan, no exaggeration. Everything was fresh and each piece made you want to keep eating more. Lastly the Mongolian Beef special was the icing on top of an already fantastic experience. The beef was flavorful and tender, the sauce accompanied with the beef was delicious and the scallions and fried onions (I believe it was fried onions) garnished on top gave me everything I was looking for.
As someone who works in the industry (restaurant) I always love going to places where the staff takes pride in the food and service they display. BluFin will definitely be a spot I return to and suggest from word of mouth and...
Read moreI went to Blufin Sushi few times - their Sushi is so so but the Woods have no other option. If you go to a real Sushi place you will notice the difference. But taste can be subjective. What most rubs me with the place and this is why I will never eat there agin, is the arrogance and rudeness of the staff - specifically with Groupon.
First time we asked if we could use it for lunch while dining in and we were told it is accepted. We ordered few things and some lunch specials. And afterwards we were lectured that lunch specials are excluded from the lunch Groupon deal. Nice.
Second time I over the phone ask if I could place an order for pick up and use the lunch Groupon. I arrive mention the Groupon and rudely being lectured again that Groupon are only accepted for dine in. The person I talked to over the phone joined the conversation explaining that she thought it was ok and was quickly informed as well that she made a mistake. Instead of saying sorry for the misunderstanding and simply making an exception in this case because I informed myself via the phone before placing the order, the employe insisted on not accepting the Groupon deal. Customer service 101 fail.
I simply turned around, went to Kroger and enjoyed a 1/3 cheaper Sushi which actually tasted surprisingly good for a grocery store - I am not sure if the Sushi was in the end not even better than BluFin anyway. One might think come on Kroger? Make a taste test. Some good Kroger rolls vs BluFin rolls. BluFin might look nice but flavor wise it lacks.
And in the future I will rather give my money to the quite polite and friendly staff at my Kroger store than the arrogant and snoddy brat of a server at BluFin.
I must say eel Sushi from Kroger is actually...
Read moreThe food was amazingly good. My family which consisted of my god brother, his daughter, our cousin and myself. It was a Friday evening around 6:30 pm on January 19, 2017.
Around 7:00 pm mostly all of our food came out. Ten minutes later the rest of our food arrived. My rice was the last thing to come out.
About 10 minutes later the manager came over and started removing dishes without saying anything. She leaves and quickly returns to gather more dishes.
This time she grabs my plate, as I'm still actively eating on it! I stop her as she attempts to move away! I wave my fork and say "Hey, I'm still eating, do you mind?"
She says "Oh, I'm just trying to clear this table because we have other customers who want to sit here!"
I said to her, "We are here right now and I'm going to finish my meal!"
She walked away. Never apologized for being rude!
There was a white couple who were sitting next to us and they were never interrupted as we were! Matter of fact when I raised my voice about my plate being taken from me, the lady whispered to me "I know right!"
I tried to not make a scene or cause any trouble, but I was angry and offended. I live in West Bloomfield and I hate that I was spending my money some where I didn't feel welcomed.
Our bill that night was over $90. This is the last time any of my family will EVER patronize this establishment.
The manager left a bad taste in our minds. She ruined our dining experience. The owner needs to fire that cancerous employee. She's not an asset, she's a real problem if the business has intention of making a good profit.
I'm sure she acted with her limited worldview and not in the best interest of the restaurant. The only color she should be concerned...
