November 27, 2021 Due to Health reasons I became a Vegan 7 months ago. It has been a challenge to find any place to eat out that will make dishes with NOTHING coming from an animal...no dairy, no eggs...nothing. I was assured they could make Vegan Dishes for me. TODAY I HAD THE BEST, BEST, BEST Vegan Salad I have Ever had in my life. Strawberry Chicken Salad without the Chicken, no cheese, and add dried cranberries topped with Raspberry Dressing!!! So good I ordered another one at the end of my meal to take home!!! See my Video on YouTube to see how good looking it is!!!
2017 Arrived at 10 AM and there were 4 people to seat and the place was full. At 11:15 AM when we left there was about 25 to 30 people waiting all the way out the door. This was our first time trying out the place. The service was second to none....Tyson was our Waiter! The food was the best so far in the entire Detroit area.....better than the Hudson Cafe and the Dime Store!!! I even tried and ate my hash browns which I Never like eating out but without giving instructions on how to prepare them.....they were perfect with No Oil! My best friend was amazed to see me eating hash browns.
Also....they have a French Press with their own blend of Coffee and it was the Only Coffee I have liked anywhere outside of my home or high end coffee shops that roast their own!!!
We met the Owner and it was shocking to see a good looking young man that was not fat and he was in the kitchen helping to prepare the food. Everyone else has lost our Breakfast business except this place! Oh and their buttermilk pancakes were perfect!
Needless to say.....it was the 1st place in a LONG time where I have not had to send back a plate of food and I told the Owner. Amazing! I had the Egg Whites Cinco de Mayo with hash browns and buttermilk pancakes and French Press Coffee. My best friend had some Mexico style breakfast and it tasted good.....he tried the pancakes and took them from me to finish them off. He was hurting from being so full when we left and I was happily full!!
WORTH THE WAIT and the bill was only $36.00 for the two of us with all our extras! We are coming back with all our family and friends!
July, 2017 - Update....we went back and someone decided to serve a dish that looked like no one cared and it was so bad I sent it back. The Owner was on vacation and I left a message I wanted to talk with him when he came back. A couple of times I was messaged concern about the problem I incurred while the owner was still on vacation. It was one person who created my displeasure and bad experience and it was a couple of people who cared enough to let me know they were concerned. I have been to this place to eat many times and I will be going back. One bad employee's action will not stop me from returning. It is nice to see...

Dishes Ordered: Sweet Potato Hash with Pork Belly Meat Lovers Hash (no ham, scrambled eggs) Pumpkin Pancakes with Cream Cheese
The Food The food had potential: The sweet potato hash with pork belly tasted fine but came with about an ounce of pork belly—blink and you’d miss it. The meat lovers hash (minus the ham, with scrambled eggs) was hearty enough, though nothing worth writing a poem about. The pumpkin pancakes with cream cheese were the one true star of the table—soft, spiced, and topped with just the right tang.
The kitchen did their part, but what came next made it hard to enjoy.
The Service Experience Now let’s talk service—or the lack of it. Our server came to the table with a vibe heavy enough to dim the morning light. When I asked about a drink, instead of a warm welcome, I got a sharp, “Do you have an ID?” Now, I know the rules, and I know my age, so the problem wasn’t the words—it was the delivery. Rude, flat, and enough to make you question whether you should’ve just stayed home.
Then came the little moments that piled up fast: Syrup served on top of a napkin (because why bother setting it properly?). Plates held mid-air for us to grab, like we were serving ourselves. Asking for napkins only to have her flip over the sticky syrup napkin and pass it back. Truly a new level of effort.
When I asked about the tiny pork belly portion, she didn’t bother resolving it herself—she disappeared for 10 minutes and came back with a manager. Thankfully, the manager (a former server we’ve had before) actually knew how to treat guests. Maybe let them run the training sessions, because this was rough.
Value & Overall Good food can’t save bad service. Dining out is about feeling welcomed, and if I wanted to serve myself and eat off reused napkins, I could’ve done that at home for free.
Final Rating Food: 4/5 Service: 1/5 Overall: 2.5/5

Read moreThe Jagged Fork is a cute little diner open for breakfast and lunch. It is situated along Mack Ave in Grosse Point Farms and was pretty busy when we stopped. We went in for breakfast while visiting the area on Labor Day weekend. We were told the wait for a table was 30 - 45 minutes and were seated at about 25. During our wait we noticed the wait staff in full hustle mode and passing out smiles like candy during a parade. Perusing the menu we honed in on two items. The first was a fried egg and bacon breakfast sandwich with American cheese on a toasted brioche bun. Sounds pretty simple and not very note worthy doesn't it. HOWEVER, add crispy fried shoestring potatoes and Chipotle ketchup and you end up with a Forked Up Breakfast Sammy, which i can tell you is VERY note worthy. Still a fried egg sandwich with an oozy goozy yolk and crispy bacon, but spicy ketchup and crispy crunchy shoestring adds a kick that takes it over the top. In every situation that I have ever been in, I can tell you that dill pickles and poached eggs do NOT belong on the same plate! BUT when they are paired with seasoned roasted shredded pork, an English muffin, Swiss cheese, honey mustard dressing and hollandaise sauce, it is magically transformed into something heavenly! And the Jagged Fork calls it the Cuban Dill. Order it, and thank me later. And ask to sit in Jennifer's section, she's awesome! She was prompt, all smiles and kept our drinks topped off without hesitation. P.S. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being open Labor Day morning. You were one of the only local eateries open. And if you hadn't been, or it had been any other day, we would have missed out on one of the true highlights of...
