So I pass by this poké spot often. As an a-fish-ionado you can tend to judge establishments. You judge a book by its cover and you know this one I kinda wrote it off coz it looked like kind of plain. But then we went in there and the passion of that dude putting together our poké bowl... It's the most passion I've seen yet. Aaand you can feel it when you taste it. I was kinda conflicted about what I wanted to order because I just saw Seaspiracy and I'm super concerned that those fillet didn't die in a good way you know what I mean? But life eats life and it's gonna nourish my noggin as well as my body so I just threw Neptune a big "Whaddup" for providing the ocean with so many dank fish so that we get to be in commune with through our consumption and said thank you for that.
The bowls were really good the flavor profile was so powerful. And my bowl tasted like spice with more like a sensual hydrating. I can feel the ponzu radiating among my tongue. When I started this journey I think I was a bit intimidated by just the collage of ingredients but then I realized that might be the right way to eat poké. It shouldn't just be a fish and rice thing. But I do still like the simplicity in that. Like Leonardo da Vinci once said, "simplicity is the ultimate sophisticaesh". Big ups to Pokemoto which I think is also the direct link to Pachamamma. Overall this was a fire gastrospiritual moment. Five puca...
Read moreIm from Hawai'i. I left a nice review 2 years ago because I suppose I was amused to find this all the way over here. The delusion has worn off 😂It's not authentic, it's lazy. The boba is just those cheap lil walmart packs and never ONCE has my boba been cooked all the way. The poke is okay. The poke burritos are alright too, but sometimes they will literally make it 80% rice. Like I said, it's alright but I'm not paying 16$ for rice and fish wrapped in seaweed. Everybody knows Hawai'i is expensive. But we ain't over there, so I'm just tryna figure out why they selling it at a Hawaiian price when we in the mainland! Total scam🤦♂️Additionally, the workers are just unprofessional. They complain to your face and get irritated when you order something that takes "effort" and make little remarks to each other. They always horseplaying behind the counter never doing they job. And don't be complaining that you got a easy ahh minimum wage job making lil burritos n boba teas, cuz there be real smart people actually doing the hard work in the world🤦♂️Like bae, you aint an engineer. You a grown 40 yo lady who ain't smart enough for a bettah job so u done got stuck here. N even that is too hard for you. Avoid it, if you want real Hawaiian food just...
Read moreI’m giving this place 4 stars for everyone else, but for me personally, it was more like 3. However, we JUST moved back here after spending the last 3 years in Hawaii, so actual Hawaiian poké is what I’m accustomed to. I ordered a bowl and tried to make it as close to my favorite Foodland California Roll Poké as I possibly could, and it wasn’t bad! It doesn’t hold a candle to Hawaiian poké, of course, but I’m really excited to be able to to grab a poké bowl on the go in Groton. The ingredients were fresh and the staff was friendly. They don’t currently accept cash (not sure if that’s permanent or will change once they’re open longer), so make sure you have a CC.
The place is pretty expensive…I paid $6.99 for my poké bowls in Hawaii (where EVERYTHING is more expensive), and this bowl (small bowl, ahi tuna, cucumber, spicy Mayo, avocado (an extra $1.95) green onions, masago, and furikake) was $14.16. Plus a 15% tip brought lunch for just me to $16.18. Oh, and a bottle of water was $2.15…so $18.33. for a small bowl and a water. That’s a LOT. Overall though, I’d say it was a good experience. Glad to know there’s a decent poké place nearby should I get...
