Pistol Pat's Family Diner on honey creek — Restaurant in Grove

Pistol Pat’s is exactly as they describe on their Facebook page, “Family friendly diner, with a big menu from burgers to steak dinners, catfish and BBQ.” Check for the specials on their Facebook page. Today was the Chicken Fried Chicken, which is one of my favorites anywhere, but my wife and I were in the mood for hamburgers. Two cheese burgers one regular and one Jumbo; both with the standard fixin’s (FRESH lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle). I thought that we could split an order of fries. My wife seemed to think that I should order my own. To be different I ordered the Jalapeno Cheese balls. As it turned out the portion of fries was large enough for two people. We left a lot in the basket. I have never had the Jalapeno cheese balls. Tater Tot sized crispy coated fried balls of tasty, molten jalapeno flavored cheddar cheese. Unique, rich. Ok, so now I have tried them. Both of these sides were preprocessed and cooked from frozen. The burger patties were factory pressed quality, lean beef patties. Don’t let this discourage you. Everything was cooked perfectly. I recommend the tasty burgers if you are in the mood for a burger. Better yet though, go for the specials. That was on everyone else’s table in the restaurant today.

They have a crab leg all you can eat special on Saturday night, which is a hell of a deal if you are a big eater. Checked the price of crab legs lately?

Service is very slow, we were not greeted or seated until the owner? came in from outside, it was several minutes more before the server even approached the table (I think the wait staff was all on a break when we arrived). Food was ordered and it was a 25-30 minute wait. Not a huge wait but enough of one that some of our food was dry and/or luke warm when served. The food is good, average, but wait staff is inattentive and slow. We probably won't be back. Just a side note for service staff, it is not important for table bussers to refill the jelly tray while we are trying to eat. I understand there are side jobs to be done but those can wait until we are no longer at the table, and wait staff please don't reach over my plate after I have been served. Over priced Garbage food.

This is my second time eating at this place, the first time was nearly as bad as the second. I gave it the benifit of the doubt and tried again.

Got Chicken tenders for daughter, was cheap bone filled psuedomeat. She lived in a 3rd world country 18 years, and has eaten some pretty gross things so she isnt picky, but this made even her throw up.

I got jumbo bacon cheeseburger and it was literally the size of a McDonalds Cheeseburger. It tasted meh. I was also probably grossed out by the chicken.

Onion rings were all Peel, unchewable.

Shake was about the only decent thing that came out of it, but even that left a lot to be desired.

Over all horrible eating experience. The kind of nausia that sticks with you all day as you can't stop thinking about it. I will never eat here...
