I ordered Tallarín Saltado de Mariscos and sopa de pollo for my little one, who is overcoming a cold. While my Spanish isn’t perfect, I know what I ordered. The total came to $30, which seemed a bit high, but I paid and tipped $5.
When I opened the bag, I received arroz chufa de pollo instead of sopa de pollo. I understand this could have been a miscommunication, the owner kindly brought me the correct order and took back the rice. Thank you! 🙏
However, my main concern was with the Tallarín Saltado de Mariscos. It had barely any seafood, and it was clear that the seafood was frozen, as it didn’t taste fresh at all. I was really disappointed to pay $16 for essentially seafood-flavored noodles. The soup was $9, yet I was still charged $30. I believe I was owed $5 back, but I didn’t feel like arguing and chose to let it go.
I can’t speak on the quality of the soup. We waited so long and at this point my little one ate what we had.
Overall, this experience was disappointing, and I hope the quality improves...
Read moreThis is a really good Peruvian spot!! Like you need to come in here if you haven't. Idk if they changed the chef, because before the food was mediocre, now it's definitely a whole lot better!
First off plate sizes are huge. You need to come with an appetite if not get ready to take your left overs home. Second, whatever you order here just know you're gonna get a good palate of flavor. The fajitas, burritos, carnes asada, mole, even the soups they're rich in flavor and you can taste fresh ingredients being used. The seafood here is a MUST! If you are a seafood lover this is the plCe for you, the ceviche is out of this world. Third, the prices are super reasonable. For the amount of food that you're getting and probably what you won't be able to finish I think the $$ amount is more than good.
Delivery wise they're pretty fast except on the weekends cause they do get a good amount of service so just be wary of that. Solid place though to eat and one of the better Peruvian spots...
Read moreThe last time I went to El Sombrero was more than a month ago. I haven’t gone back ever since I found hair in my food. We asked the waitress for another plate and she didn’t keep us notified on the status of the food for a good 30 minutes. My friend had to ask the waitress and she tells us that we weren’t getting any food because “I ate everything.” This was false. I ate only half the fish until realizing the hair. She kept coming up with excuses saying first it was an eyelash. Then she said it was my hair or one of my friend’s hair. Which couldn’t be true for the record cause it was a short piece of hair and we all have long hair. Then she said things “float around” and could land on plates which comes down to a hygienic problem for the restaurant. She made me feel embarrassed and like a criminal for a $6 meal. I would never lie just to get a free meal. This was the most upsetting and embarrassing experience i’ve ever had with...
