So much so we've done comparisons with Morris County bakeries (with residents of Morris County, faithful to their favorite bakeries) and the results are in: Harper's makes better stuff and you won't go broke being their customer. This place is an absolute gem that is cherished by anyone who's been there and knows quality. Bill and daughter Melissa run the place and are more than accomodating to phoned-in, custom orders. Their rolls and breads are top notch and disappear off our table faster than a spilled beverage. I cannot say enough about the jelly donuts, apple turnovers, and danishes either. The variety is always a surprise and they make seasonal items that get you pumped for any holiday. Being a deadbeat stops today. Tomorrow, change the way your family looks at you. Used to go there in the late 1990's and it was great. Stopped there recently and it was terrible! Not only do they no longer sell bagels, (I was told this) but they hardly sell anything else either. 90% of their display and shelving was empty. They had exactly 6 danish for sale, that's it! No cakes, no pies, no bagels, no cookies, no nothing. How this place stays in business is beyond me. Trust me, most of the people giving this place 4 or 5 stars must either be the owners or relatives and friends of the owners. I stopped at Harper’s a few weeks ago, just to see what they had. I bought a doughnut and a danish. Both very good. I stopped again last weekend and this time bought a loaf of their sourdough bread. Wow!! I went back yesterday and bought another loaf. But do not wait. Today? No sourdough so went back to their jelly doughnut and a cheese danish.
