Ordered online on Saturday. Went to pick up my food and noticed a woman walk down the street and enter Dar's returning a wrong order. She exits as I enter give my name to "Emily" at the counter. Emily gives me my food. I ask her if this was the bag that the lady who just left returned. She said "Yes. She opened it up and realized it was the wrong order and brought it back." I asked "Are you 100% sure that she didn't do anything to this food?" "Yes," she replied. "Unfortunately, I'm not. Please remake this order." Emily got an attitude and didn't understand my concern. I had to explain, "In this day and age, you don't know what people are capable of. That woman can be in here unmasked. I don't know her immunization status. I don't know if she unwrapped the food, coughed all over it and wrapped it back up. You don't know either, Emily. But for you to vouch 100% for an uncertainty is very concerning. Mcdonalds has better standards of practice. I would hope your standards were better than that." For future reference, when food leaves your restaurant in an unsealed package, you cannot guarantee the quality of that food upon its return. The Health department policy dictates that you discard that potentially tainted food. What upsets me most is that I vouched for this place. The first time I went there the food was excellent and the service was pleasant. Now I have to tell my friends and coworkers to be careful because the food may have...
Read moreAtmosphere: decent enough for what they are. What they are is a place to order and take it home I think. With only 3 2-seat tables, they're not meant to be an eat in place.
Service: again, decent enough but not really customer oriented. Our order was taken, we sat down and were then brought our food bagged up and in to go containers. Had to ask for forks for the fries. That could be chalked up to the expectation that all orders are assumed to be take out though and there's nothing wrong with that except they should've asked if we were eating there.
Food: the ribeye steaks are good and what a cheese steak should be. If I got a plain cheese steak with that being my only expectation, I think I would've been happy with it. I got the Philly dill (or whatever it is named). What I imagined was a cheese steak with chopped up pickles incorporated when the steak was ready to bun and whiz mixed thoroughly through. What I got was a cheese steak with a drizzle of whiz and 6 pickle slices on top. That's fine and all if that's what they're going for, but each bite was different which didn't work for me. One would be just steak and cheese, one steak with pickle and cheese, one just...
Read moreI had to try the place who claimed worlds best cheesesteak near me. I used to work in philly and my preferred option there is phillips steaks. As a guy who prefers whiz I tried Dar's version, and it just seemed like a less potent flavor and much more watery (two things I really didn't enjoy). The bread was wonderful, loved it, im not sure if toasting it was offered (it might have added a little something extra for me personally) however I really enjoyed it either way. The meat seemed typical chopped beef, flavored well, but without an enjoyable cheese (again for me personally) it dampened the whole experience. I did enjoy the fries, they were cooked well, but nothing that particularly worth mentioning. I was taken aback by the $11 price tag for the cheesesteak itself, since I believe every known place in philly is at that price or lower (Keep in mind if you go to geno's you're getting half the meat, if you're lucky). The packaging was a good choice. All in all a bit disappointed but will try again with some generic cheese option. I still feel like Chick's in Cherry Hill is the best local option. Or White house if...
