Wendy's — Restaurant in Hadley

It's ok, but no longer excellent in the same was as when I worked for Wendy's in the 80s.

For example, the chicken breast just is not as good as it used to be. Currently, it's often very dried out with so-so flavor. Management confirmed chicken now comes frozen & already prepared.

In my days as an employee, refrigerated thawed, skinned chicken breasts were hand-breaded just before frying. Once cooked, it was stored in a warmer until ordered. After a period of time (I think 1-2 hours), the unsold ones were discarded. While still fresh, it was always juicy and tasty.

Chicken nuggets no longer seem to be whole pieces of white meat.

Burgers seem about the same.

However, I really wish a healthier bun/bread option was available, such as 100% whole grain.

The fries are usually very good, however, I often order without salt due to them impossibly over-salted otherwise. In spite of my no salt requests, they still sometimes come salted (wth?). In my youth, a completely different fry scoop and bin was used when no salt fries...

I rated this Wendy's (Russell Street/Rt 9 Hadley, MA) previously 4-star. My last several visits (over a few months) have been very aggravating at how long the drive thru wait per customer has become. After waiting in line 4 cars back and 1 behind me, then locking me in until the first car order was resolved, I then drove out of line and went to the McDonald's around the corner. I sat in the back commercial building parking lot next to the Wendy's to eat my burger and continued to watch a long drive thru line. I then went inside for only a chocolate frosty, with only 1 customer in front of me waiting for his order, and watching him getting frustrated, and no other customers inside the restaurant. I finally got my Frosty after nearly 15mins! As a senior I've been to many Wendy's over the years, but these observations are terrible, and management should consider...

Just a forewarning, go park your car in the McDonald's parking lot next door if you can't get across Route 9 from the mall area. McDonald's won't tow your car or even notice your existence.

Now they redid this Wendy's a few months back and made the place great. It because extremely clean, pleasantly designed and even quicker on dispensing orders. They added a Coca-Cola mixer machine that creates sodas which was a radical decision and almost worth a visit on its own. The staff is experienced at shoving out food quickly and completing your transaction quickly. This is true for the drive through and in store.

They might want to clean their fryers more often but otherwise they a top notch Wendy's and the best fast food on...
