Free Range Cafe — Restaurant in Hagerstown

Original review- The concept is filling a major void in this area. Hagerstown and the Cumberland valley boast excellence in Agriculture and now - finally- there's a fast service restaurant to represent the quality food our region produces. The restaurant will offer salads, smoothies, juices & stick-to-your-bones bowls in an eat-in or drive thru fashion. The dining area offers a kids space & classroom. I'm over the moon excited and grateful for this place.

Updated review- slowest drive thru in town and I highly question the food safety training of the staff. I've had my order be incorrect several times WITH food sensitivities indicated upon ordering. I wish it was better! I don't eat here anymore but still pickup from them for GrubHub from time to time.

Updated review- I decided to come through because it's my coworker's birthday and he really likes their breakfast wrap... I went online and placed the order at 10:45 and showed up at 11:15 to pick up the order and they said that they wouldn't give it to me because they stop serving breakfast at 11:00 but my order was placed 15 minutes before 11:00.... They tried to get me to take a refund or order something else but I told them that I should get it because I placed my order before 11:00. So they finally agreed to but here I am waiting and dealing with yet another free range cafe hiccup... I've never once had a smooth order from this place. The only reason I'm here today is because it's my friend's birthday! Two years in business and they still can't quite seem to get an...

Love hate relationship w. FR. Love the concept & usually what I select. $$$. Recently purchased a Ranchero Bowl, very watery at the bottom of the bowl, which wasn’t too horrible — due to the fact that the chicken was dry; seasoned fairly bland. (fairly tasty, just needed something more).

Another day: (recent, within same week): Purchased a Classic Chix bagel (would be helpful if it was cut in 1/2 as a rule because it was messy and how is one to eat a soggy bagel as a whole unit ?). — Good portion, but the bagel came wrapped tight (to go) & had I not grabbed a fork and opened when I had- it’d have been inedible due to a flat soggy bagel being served. Couldn’t the bagels be toasted and not what appears to be grilled and smooshed ?? Was it good though? Yes. The sausage is pretty tasty.

Lastly, blue gloves gives the impression of cleanliness (nice)— BUT THAT image is quickly thwarted when you touch doors, money, your sweaty forehead WHILE touching the fruit, and whatever else you’re handing the customer. The kitchen view is a bit chaotic and unorganized. (Fruit guy chops fruit-but up and leaves the carnage all over the counter— the trashcan is right there :/ ). He’s wandering around looking at stuff but never cleaned up. ?? Maybe that is me being picky— but impressions are everything— especially when this place is known for being unorganized. (Orders wrong, taking forever).

I like the food and overall concept— but some areas...

this is an overall review of all of my experiences here which is why I'm giving 4 stars. 4 stars to me just means less than perfect.

The avocado toast is amazing. It's a bit pricey but it's filling and the toppings offered are not offered elsewhere that serves avocado toast. 10/10.

To add salmon is $3. I ordered toast once with salmon and got the tiniest sliver of salmon on my toast. I decided to go back to request more since I've ordered plenty of times and this was unusual. At my request they gave me extra salmon on the side for me to add to my toast. Perfect solution.

I tried their kids Mac and cheese and kids chicken wrap once. Both were very odd flavored and bland to me. I couldn't finish either of them. They weren't for me.

Today my boyfriend ordered the vegan rise up wrap. He got to work only to realize they gave him a wrap with chicken and egg on it. I went back with a photo of the receipt and the wrong wrap and asked for the correct wrap. I also ordered toast for myself. They replaced the wrap for me to give to my boyfriend. My toast is perfect and they remedied the problem and were friendly.

The accuracy seems to be kind of an issue, but admittedly every place makes mistakes. I understand that. They fixed the problem for me both times I went back which is all I could ask for.
