We visited Little Alex’s a couple days ago, at 8-ish, for the first time. We thought the experience would be amazing, because previous reviewers talked up their customer service, and pizza. We were the only dine-in customers. Our server was great, but obviously new, and she couldn’t remember our orders, despite the fact that we were the only customers there, which was truly shocking. She took our orders, and came back a few minutes later, with a salad, asking, “Who got the salad?” She would’ve been totally screwed had there been more diners. Our entire order consisted of fried pickles (appetizer), a large pepperoni pizza, and the lasagna entree. So three menu items, plus drinks. She didn’t remember who got the salad, she put the drinks in the wrong places (even though she’d taken our drink orders literally minutes prior), and when she came back to refill our drinks, she asked both of us what our drinks were. On top of that, the ranch that came with the fried pickles was unmistakably Hidden Valley Ranch. Very disappointing. Nothing about the pizza was unique, and I would never recommend it to anyone who knows good pizza. The best part about it was the cup pepperonis. Otherwise, meh. The fried pickles appeared to be thrown together. They were good, but far from the best I’ve had. The ranch I got with the fried pickles was the same dressing my roommate got with his salad - Hidden Valley Ranch - beyond subpar for a non-chain restaurant. Texas Roadhouse has better ranch. My roommate loved the lasagna - perhaps the only saving grace. I wish I could say that we’ll be returning, but we won’t. I have no idea why this restaurant is rated so highly. I feel bad for calling the server out, because she was generally nice and accommodating, but she couldn’t even remember one order, and was regularly speaking to other employees after we’d made simple requests that should’ve and could’ve been quickly fulfilled. I guess her conversations with employees were more important. If you’re looking for a very, VERY “chill” place, where customers aren’t a priority, this is the place...
Read moreI walked in Monday during lunch to see what specials they might have which, they have 2 lunch specials which are ( half sub , fries and drink for 10.99) and (6 boneless wings, fries and a drink for 10.99) both of which are decently priced. I got a half sub lunch special(steak and cheese). I then wanted to give their wings a review so I went ahead and got a 10 piece, no fries or drink for about 13.50 after taxes. I started off with the half sub steak and cheese and fries. I was not intrigued with the fries that reminded me of five guys fries just without the peanut oil, the steak and cheese on the other hand was very well seasoned and delightful, a solid 7.5 out of 10 on the steak and cheese. I then tried the wings and this is where I was disappointed, i always ask for the wings well done but they didnt even do that, the first one I bit into felt undercooked and almost reminded me of Tysons bagged wings...the wings did not have a seasoning besides the sauce they are tossed in and the sauce itself is pretty good which makes it even worse because who likes bland undercooked chicken with good sauce? I put it back and grabbed another just to see if it was just my luck I grabbed the worst one but nope the next wing felt like I was chewing a yeezy. What a waste of 13 dollars. I would go back for the SUB only but nothing else and for those of you who like five guys fries then you might like the ones at this...
Read moreSo I decided to try out Little Alex's pizzeria, I ordered the Cuban panini for me and the cheesesteak for my fiancée.
•My fiancée loved the cheesesteak, he had nothing bad to say about it! It was filled perfectly, no parts of the subs left without steak or cheese! He got his with fried onions, steak, American cheese and mayo only! You do have the option to have extras added but my fiancée likes his pretty simple.
•I loved the Cuban panini! The portion was great for the price! It came with fries which are hand cut and fried fresh and they were salted perfectly. The Cuban was made with great quality ham, not the cheap ham that other restaurants in Hagerstown use on their Cubans (sorry not sorry) I got mine with the pickles on the side and no mustard! I really really wish they had a garlic mojito to dip it in or maybe garlic aoli to put on the actual sandwich!! It would really really elevate it and take the already delicious panini go the next level!
• My fiancée and I also both agreed that they use pretty fresh ingredients so nothing we ate made us feel sick, sluggish or left us with our tummy's hurting! It's really refreshing to have a good experience with a restaurant in Hagerstown, Alex's has definitely earned...
