I discovered Nanos by accident on my first trip to Half Moon Bay Pumpkin festival last year 2024. I usually don't go to BBQ restaurants because my family can do barbecue whenever we feel like it at home.
But after my wife and I tried their BBQ tri tip and chicken, their spam masubi, and their macaroni salad, we became hooked and said the next time we come to Half Moon bay again, we will definitely come here.
The 2nd time we went to Nanos again was in early January 2025 and the owner Nano greeted us like we are first time guests and was very hospitable. He was generous enough to give us a sample of his pulled pork to try in addition to our order. It was very tasty.
To drive from San Francisco to Half Moon bay is a long drive especially when you are driving on a one way road with sometimes a lot of traffic. But the drive was worth it every time I visit Nanos.
Now this time July 4, 2025, there was a parade and small festival. So I took advantage of this opportunity to visit Nanos again (my 3rd time) with my wife because all I can think of is their BBQ chicken and tri tip steak which were always marinated to perfection. I told Nano on July 4, 2025 (Independence day) that I promise to write an excellent review about his restaurant and here it is.
I am not normally a BBQ person because I prefer either Chinese food or Mexican when I eat out. But, OMG!!! You guys got to try their BBQ!!! It is worth the drive out to Half Moon bay.
As it turns out, Nano's son was working there as cashier this time when I went. The owner Nano told me jokingly that he decided to put his son to work. LOL.
In the out door patio where my wife and I ate, there was a congratulatory banner with photos of his son's most recent graduation and football trophy photos. Check...

We stopped by Nano’s Hawaiian just looking for a quick bite—some musubi and a drink—but we ended up staying longer than expected because the place had such a warm, homey feel. We first sat out on the patio, which felt like hanging out in someone’s backyard. It was nice and comfortable.
Later on, we moved over to the bar, and I’m so glad we did. Everyone there had this laid-back, welcoming vibe—like being part of a big, friendly family. To top it off, we were offered a Hawaiian drink on the house, which was such a nice surprise and really showed how generous and kind the staff is.
Whether you’re just dropping in for a snack or want to relax for a while, Nano’s Hawaiian is definitely worth a visit. It’s the kind of spot that makes you feel...

I miss Hawaii and whenever I come here and sit on their patio eating their delicious food it takes me back and it’s like there’s a little piece of Hawaii in California. The chicken bowls, shrimp bowl and the 2 for $9 spam masubis NEVER disappoint. Not to mention the best and kind service it was so sweet hearing them play reggae and talk about how much of a beautiful day it was while serving us yummy food. Thank you guys! Will come back soon in the summer xx
(p.s to the guy complaining they were closed on Tuesday god forbid they have a break in the middle of the week! lol ppl forget humanity. I won’t take it for...
