To;Dr; food good, service and consistency bad. I wish they would change their menu a little. E.e. the fish and chips are great slightly spicy ketchup. Fries are good and fish crust great. However sometimes you get two little tiny pieces barely enough, sometimes three big ones. No consistency here, we usually like to get some nice fish for takeout. Today was really bad the waiter gave me the bag wrong and I nearly dropped it. I asked two times for utensils he said they were but they weren't. Additionally just two little buttered fish this time. Last time I got three large, didn't satisfy me at all. This for pricy 22$ is a little no-go. I like the food it's tasty fires are good, my wife's getting the fish sandwich which is great as well good fish good sauces I can't complain at all for the taste. However I would love to see, especially for takeout more options, why not offer fish and chips per pcs so the customer can decide. It's so surprising hard to just get a quick fish in half moon bay. The harbor is totally overrated and crowded I guess if this place would focus more on quick small tourist fish instead semi-fancy indoor dining it would be a great success. But the current model seems not to fly well especially with this bad service and inconsistent portions sizes. Certainly room for improvement. Hope the owner reads this and can adjust to a more hybrid model (eg indoor dining with fixed menus and take out with more flexible options).

Dined here because I was looking for another restaurant with great reviews on fish n chips in the area but I missed the turn for that place and saw this place. So i checked the reviews for this place and it sounded promising and my fam was really hungry already plus the place had customers dining in. The food was served promptly. Salads were fresh and I loved the thousand island dressing. It had a spicy kick to it. Fish n chips were imo not worth the $20+ cost. I've had much better for less than half in the central valley where I live. The fish was bland but they were crunchy. Fries were ok. The clam chowder was average tasting. The gyro meat was hard and chewy. The fried oysters were huge which was maybe a little to big and unexpected. They were too meaty and the person who ordered them did not like them because they were so big and did not have much flavor apart from the breaded part. Service was friendly and they were prompt in serving. The place we're very clean and the bathrooms were clean as well.

Low key fish shack right on 92 before hwy 1, with crab pots cooking away out front in season. Counter order. No reservations. Nice people, good customer service. We had the crab special with a whole crab, chowder, and side of fries/cole slaw/salad ($29). Another companion had crab Louie that came with a generous supply of crab on top with sourdough bread side. The clam chowder was excellent. The cole slaw was very crisp and delicious. The fries were good and hot though I should have gotten the cole slaw. Most places have heavy mayo versions but this turned out to be very tasty with light dressing touch. There were some lovely looking large shrimp salads on other tables. Might try those in off season. Would be nice if they offered bread and butter to everyone.

I thought I would give this place a try again and thoroughly regretted it. When it first opened about 3 years back, it was basic and food was about a 2.5-3 star then...but overtime the quality and seemingly cooks and staff have declined.

This evening we ate there given New Year’s Day as everything was crowded however that proved to be a bad decision...

Served us the wrong order at first Brought back corrected order but incorrect sides They forgot salad and forgot utensils Never thought I would say this but the scallops were too big, no flavor, crust was too hard and undercooked The prawns were over cooked with high ratio of crust to shrimp The salad (when we finally acquired it) was bitter lettuce, not something you would expect from HMB, home to so many farms

When you order your food, you tip up front and I even tipped those thieves 20% because it WAS New Years Day. If I would have known,I definitely would not have tipped...for sure highway robbery there...

Ok ok I hear the critics...it’s New Year’s Day, nobody wants to work right? If you own a restaurant and have it open, serve quality food and have people working who want to work..and if the food is that bad, then give a discount...Barbs fish trap is same price but quality and oversight is quite literally 10 times better.

Sincerely, a forever...
