Cafe Landwer — Restaurant in Hallandale Beach

DISGUSTING, DESPICABLE, DISASTROUS, and DISAPPOINTING!!It's been days and I still can't get over the horrific experience in this place.Went there for dinner and at end of the lackluster meal we went to the restroom.Being that my mom is in a wheelchair and an amputee, we were thrilled to see a roomy restroom with handicap grab bars.Without going into the gory details, I can only tell you that the look of fear and horror in my mom's eyes will never leave me as I watched the bar give way and her fall to the floor hitting her head on the tiled wall.It was so unexpected and wrong because afterwards we looked and the bar was made not of one solid piece and had some kind of white thin foam material that was put on one side to make it stayed up but was totally not secure. I ran out to ask for help and two female staff members came to try but to no avail so we called EMT and got my mom back up and into her wheelchair. But what happened after that really shook me even more. It seemed like the staff was not only indifferent But completely disappeared, like scattered.I tried to look for someone just to ask for some ice from my mom's head and an incident report or even get the names of the two girls who tried to help But there was no one.I saw a worker on the phone and asked if there was anybody that could help me like a manager and he basically looked at me like "why, what happened?" Even though I knew that he knew what happened and was probably on the phone discussing it with the manager or owner. I explained to him again and said my mom is there but I would like for what happened to be noted in some way because that bar is completely not up to code and that's the reason for why she's sitting there in pain and now the bump on her head is getting bigger which from the shock she didn't even notice she had and no one's even around to offer ice or any words of consolation or even to give us a water.I was met with indifference and absolute rudeness.As I was speaking very calmly trying not to get my mom frazzled in any way and just asking for the basics before getting her some necessary care and comfort,that same rude gentleman with sarcasm, disdain, and smirking said "what's the big deal, It was an accident, and what is it you want!?" The owner came and said she didn't know what happened.I explained and said that she could go see the bar in the restroom to which she immediately she said that everything is up to code and she will not provide incident report.She said there's no problem here and it must have been because my mom is a little heavy, basically victim shaming my mom in front of her! I couldn't believe what was happening.I've never seen such callousness, rudeness, despicable behavior, And lack of human decency. I'm not sure why such a cover-up because no proper business would behave that way without some courtesy and kindness, especially for the victim of an accident inside an establishment. But this place had no protocols in place, completely ignorant employees that disappeared because maybe they were scared or working without papers I'm just thinking.This experience was awful and because of the belligerent and downright rude behavior from the staff and the owner They started to be threatening and loud and I had to call the police which we also had to hide and wait for in the hopes of getting them to get some basic report on record for what occurred and some names of who witnessed it.I don't believe that when unfortunate things happen, we have to lose our decency.I would help a complete stranger on the street much less someone who had such a traumatizing experience in an establishment that I owned or worked in. There was no care given to my mom at all and it's shameful for any people service business. *RESPONSE to owners response is, all the LIES are from you!EMTs were called at MY insistence AND your staff told me to get on the call because they couldn't talk to them. AND the bar WAS patched together with thin foam to stay up but not be secure and functional. I have no reason to lie....

I honestly don’t think that it is fair to even name this place the same as my beloved cafe Landwer in Israel.

I’m health-conscious, and whenever I order anything fruit-based—like juice or a smoothie—I always ask for it to come before the food. I even reminded them, but my drink arrived much later, after the food was already on the table. That meant I had to wait, and by the time I could actually start eating, my eggs were cold. On top of that, the toasted bread only came about 10 minutes later, at which point I had already lost my appetite for this breakfast.

Their signature “famous breakfast,” which they highlight in the menu, was a major disappointment. The granola with fruit was soggy, the avocado was watery, the bread was dry, and the eggs were undercooked. Even my husband, who usually enjoys fruit with granola, didn’t like it.

When it was finally time to leave, it was difficult to even get the server’s attention to bring the check. And despite the disappointing experience, they still had the courtesy to charge us for the eggs and piece of bread we managed to eat, simply because I was already hungry and had no choice but to eat something.

I had the pleasure of dining at Cafe Landwer, and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. This charming restaurant offers a delightful mix of authentic Israeli and Mediterranean cuisine, and everything we ordered was bursting with fresh flavor. The shakshuka was absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked eggs in a rich, spiced tomato sauce — and the pastries were fresh, flaky, and indulgent.

The staff were welcoming, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. They made us feel at home and ensured everything was to our satisfaction. Another big plus is the availability of valet parking, which is a rare convenience in this area.
