The food is good and we’ve had good experiences when we’ve eaten from Screaming Carrots before, but today was a different story. My wife is on a specific diet and the first time we were there the gentleman we talked to was very helpful about what was in the food when she asked questions on a couple of items. Today, she wanted to try something different, but when we called to ask if the house spices are pure herbs or have additives like chemicals, or other additives besides the pure spices (like guar gum which she can’t have, but I never got a chance to mention that), we were told the gentleman there this time couldn’t answer that because it’s a generic question and the spices change with each dish and if we told him what she can’t have he’d tell us. I told him she can only have true herbs and spices, and he again said he couldn’t answer that which came across that he didn’t know or couldn’t be bothered. He then told us this wasn’t a place for us to eat at. A couple minutes later, I thought I’d try again and when he answered I asked to speak with someone else and cited being cut off and hung up on. He said he was there alone, and I can appreciate how hectic that can be, but when I tried to further explain what she can’t have he cut me off and incredulously mocked me for asking is any chemicals or other additives were in the spices. He instructed me to check their website, which isn’t helpful in this regard, and hung up on me. We’re going to take him up on his initial suggestion that this isn’t the type of place for us to eat at since he couldn’t be bothered with any dietary concerns or answering if the herbs and spices being used were pure or had additives. Wish them the best and am glad others enjoy their food...
Read moreOn Sunday, April 22, my boyfriend and I decided to take a ride and look for a Vegan Restaurant to get something to eat. After searching on Google, I saw "Screaming Carrots " and read the reviews and menu. We live in Cutler Bay, about 40 minutes away, but decided it was a nice day and drove there. We were both amazed with the food and the very pleasant and knowledgeable server, Sinai. We started by having the delicious falafel atop a yummy hummus. Then, with Sinai's advice, we shared the Pad Thai, which was better than any Pad Thai that I have had in other restaurants, and unlike another persons review, the Garlic cloves were very tasty. My boyfriend finished off by ordering the "mother bean brownie". I wanted to try the "Middle Eastern Pudding", but they had sold out. I wasn't surprised because it was 5 pm on Sunday.
The place is small, and busy, but we felt very much at home. I can not praise them enough for the great food and polite server, Sinai. He is not just a server, but very friendly person and we will definitely be returning. They have a wide variety of items to choose from. The prices are very reasonable, our bill was only $25.
Thank you "Screaming Carrots" and "Sinai" for a...
Read moreI couldn’t wait to write this review. As a wanna-be vegan but don’t have the gutts to do it I have to say that if I could eat here everyday It would be the easiest transition of my life. I had lunch with my two best friends and we all ordered something different and shared. Everything was outstanding! Starting with the service, the handsome young man that opened the door and sat us down was incredibly pleasant and informative about the menu. Then, everything was brought in at the same time, beautifully plated, hot, delicious and super fresh. The vegetables tasted like the best versions of themselves without having to be disguised, deep fried and covered in sauce so the rest of the world can eat them. This right here, is what vegan should look like, taste like, presented to your family like. Highly recommend the stir fried glass noodles and the mushroom sandwich. The portions are out of control, so come hungry. The prices are incredibly friendly. I really cannot wait to come back and try everything else. Love...
