The two women welcoming customers and serving food made me feel very comfortable. I had a plain burger and a house salad. I asked for the burger to be prepared medium well and was shown on the hand held ordering device that there are only 3 doneness levels so I chose medium. I think the medium rare and medium well should be removed from restaurants. I never realized that it just makes the customer think they are getting something more accurate but I wouldn't notice the midpoint gradients anyway and it often led to annoyed customers. The food looked impressive when it was served to me. The burger was thick and cooked nicely on the outside and still pink going to the center. This is my preference and how I broil or BBQ at home. I am a cornet/trumpet player and added my name to the sign up sheet. I met Bill who was in charge of the open mic. I explained that I can accompany once I know the key of a song but I cannot play a solo part. He said that he would switch between two keys and when I explained that I can only remember one key at a time he agreed. Bill and the keyboard artist made me sound as good as possible since I'm not an advanced musician. I didn't have any stage freight because the band and customers were completely supportive. I finished one song and thought it was OK but I should stop playing. Bill was enthusiastic and offered to let me play one more song. It went well again. We got a round of applause at the end. The customers faces ranged from neutral to having a smile of happiness. I read some reviews where people complained that the prices were too high but its a small restaurant and part of the price is for entertainment. A few reviews said awful things about the food. The beef burgers didn't have added spices and it was broiled. I don't see much room to go as wrong as they described. The food and music were indoors on Wednesday evenings. They play live music and serve outdoors on Sundays which I want to try. Sundays are not open mic but they said that customers are often still invited to perform. I go swing dancing on alternate Wednesdays so this is now my go to spot on my off dancing weeks. I hope to meet you. You can recognize me because I play a miniature trumpet that looks like it needs to eat...
Read moreUPDATED Ok guys...this place is awesome! Quaint little stop in with live music, food, a beer and friendly people. A friend of ours took us here to check out the place on our usual motorcycle Sundays. We definitely will be back. The owner was genuine and informative and attentive. The food...don't get me started. Grass-fed imported beef, 3... yes I stated 3 types of vegan/ vegetarian burgers! Also..whose heard of skirt steak hotdogs and truffle fries? While I didn't have the hotdogs, the fries were YUMMY, very flavorful. A must visit for the whole family!
UPDATE!!! 01.04.2022 WHERE do i begin with this one? As you can clearly see, we have frequented this place on more than a few occasions. It has progressively gone done hill. Service stunk waitress disappeared after asking her for things after the food was delivered. My friend at the table saw her flirting with a guy at the bar all the while our glasses were empty and the condiments to our food was undelivered. When letting her know we were ready to pay, she delivered 1 parties check (there were 2 parties) and took off. We then caught her again to let her know we were ready to pay and she took off again! As if this wasn't enough, during our meal the musicians friend came by pan handling for money? What the heck, so rude and i let him know. He was unapologetic and in fact justified himself by saying the musician sent him around to ask for money. A little later, the same guy came stumbling through tripping on stuff every where, apparently drunk. BTW the music was unbearable. They used to have these two women for karaoke and they were the bomb. It seems thus piano player has taken over? To take the cake, i mention to the owner about our waitress and he then deflected and basically said it was my fault i had a terrible experience with her because i should have came and got him if i needed something. Needles to say, my husband and i will not be returning. No, iam not one of these regulars. This place is overpriced, Service has sucked for a long time. Now the music sucks and the owner us obviously running a sinking ship. Just...
Read moreCame in for lunch Sunday on the recommendation of a friend. First impression was not good. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the overwhelming smell of "mop bucket / dirty bar rag". Anybody who has ever worked in the BIZ knows what I mean. Quiet a few tables were dirty, which is weird because we were the first ones in there. Staff was nice but slow to start. Seemed no one wanted to be there. Ordered drinks. Waters, lemonade, ginger ale, and a bourbon. Checked menu, prices are high for burgers considering they don't come with fries. $14-$20. We all ordered burgers some sides of fries and a side salad. Burgers we ok at best. Cooked correctly but lacking in seasoning. A little salt and pepper would help a lot. Fries were hot and fresh. Asked for side of lettuce tomato and onion. Mushy tomatoes, sad little piece of wilted lettuce, no onion. Obviously left over from last night and not prepped that morning or the product used wasn't fresh. Side salad was spring mix pulled from a bag with some rough chopped tomatoes and sliced red onion. Certainly not worth the $10 charged. Condiments were brought over on a little tray lined with dirty wax paper and the squeeze bottles were all grungy under the lids. Once the food came out all the employees sat down at the far side of the bar, pulled out their phones, and focused on their screens. No one came by to see if things were ok or if we needed anything. Next time we saw some one was to get a container to pack up the left over fries. Check came out to $127 with tip after corrections were made because we were charged for an extra drink.
Maybe lunch first thing Sunday morning after a busy Saturday night was a bad idea, but quality and service should transcend any day or shift.
Also, instead of staring at their phones the whole time, the people there should be focusing on keeping the place neat and clean and keeping up with their side work. If you got time to "screen" you got time to clean.
Probably won't go back, there's better $15 hamburgers out there in...
