I live in Hamden,CT. I ordered breakfast online for my husband on father's day, right before getting off work. I tried to use the delivery option first because I was still at work. The delivery option would not work, stating my-store wasn't using delivery service at this time.I then placed a curbside order and when I went to checkout the website would not give me an option to pay, it only gave pay at store as an option. I get to the ihop and wait for the food. When approached, I was not greeted but asked what is the name of the order, then when payment was due; I pulled up my apple pay. The store said they refuse apple pay and online payments. I explained I dont carry my wallet to work and just came from work. I was told, "oh well, theres an ATM across the street." I then said, I'm sorry, I think you might have to cancel it because I do not have my wallet. They said fine buh-bye. I went to my car and called ihop, asking what is the owner's information, the store refused to provide and said we don't accept online payments, don't accept apple pay, someone in the back kept saying explain that to her just and put her on hold. then the woman says the manager said just come back and he will figure it out. I walk back in, the manager had a receipt with a QR code. I scanned it and it brought me to the website and my receipt.we went to enter payment information it would not allow you to put any info. Then the manager went and spoke with another manager. The manager said he spoke with a manager and they will let me apple pay but if its fraud I'm in big trouble and will have a HEFTY fine. This was said in front of 3 other people waiting in the to go area. I was so embarrassed, I said please cancel never-mind after that comment. I started to walk to my car and the manager was yelling at me, I couldn't hear what he was saying because I was literally speed walking from embarrassment to my car. I called ihop asked for owner info and how to file a complaint, the manager that I dealt with picked up the phone and kept trying to apologize for the comment.
I understand everyone's interactions are different, I understand ihop is a very busy place and workers are tired. People need to be conscientious about how we speak to one another. The comment that was made was unnecessary...
Read moreThe waiter, Jake, he's amazing! I wish we had him all the time. He is very attentive, informative, and you can tell he enjoys making the customers happy. Of course, it is very busy at times and there's a lot going on and a lot of people to please who have a lot of demands, but Jake really works hard and barely shows frustration. Maybe tunnel vision sometimes but that shows focus. That's really the only reason for 3 stars (5 stars for Jake himself). Otherwise, none of the staff show any eagerness (besides the bussers) and they all look miserable. Once in a while, you might catch the hostess smiling. You could be sitting for 10 mins until the waiter comes, and if that happens, you should put your food order in at the time when they take your drink order. Otherwise, you'll be waaaiting. I dont know why there is so much wait in between the times your waiter checks on you but management really should do something to change that. As far as food goes, I've only had their breakfast. The crepes are decent to taste, but not for the quantity verses the price. I haven't been able to find a restaurant that regularly sells crepes (and steak) all day. Everything else (breakfast-wise) is just ok. They should bring back the uncured turkey bacon and I don't understand why the extra .99 charge for egg whites. The omelettes, something is off about the taste no matter what variety you order and how much condiments you shake on. I would love to try their lunch/dinner items though. I've seen other people order and it at least looks good. Coffee, nothing special and not worth $3.00 considering its supposed to be endless refills and the time in btwn refills is not worth waiting for. You'll get about 2.5 cups per pot. Their hash browns are hard and thin. My friend always gets the lunches there. The breaded chicken is way too breaded, would you like some chicken with that?
Overall, it's IHOP, can't expect too much. But being as busy as it is, they're doing something right. You also definitely get what you see in their mouthwatering menu pictures, just be surprised if the taste is...

Two issues: There does not seem to be any effort to sanitize servers or other staff hands. Because there is no one person assigned to bring a customer to a table (you have to wait until a server notices you and has time to get you to a table) and the server also takes your money and the bill, there is NO sanitizing of hands. I watched my server check customers out, handling their cash, returning money to them, and then departing for the kitchen to handle cups, glasses and plates for other patrons. QVHD take note.
Be on the alert if you order a Regular size orange juice (this may apply to other beverages). The first time I ordered a Regular, I received a large glass of orange juice. I questioned the server and was told that it was, in fact, the Large. When I pointed out that I ordered Regular, I was told that the Regular was a very small glass of juice. So, my server made her decision as to what I should have rather than what I ordered. I was told that I should just keep the Large. When the bill came, I was charged for the Large. I dropped a note off to the manager assuming that this was a one time screw up but wanted management to be aware of it.
One month later, I stopped for lunch and ordered a Regular size glass of orange juice. When my order was served, I knew that the size of the glass was NOT Regular but Large. I am wondering if management is doing this to up the customer's tab, hoping the customer will not notice they are paying for a Large and not a Regular size. One time it happens, it could be a mistake. Two times it happens, it is policy. I did speak to manager, who told me they would not charge me the Large price. But what about everyone else who just...
