Welcome to Hamden, @ShahsHalal! 🎉 If you want to get your hands on a FREE platter, stop by their Grand Opening next Friday, 8/29 between 2-4pm! To celebrate, Shah’s Halal Hamden is letting customers enjoy a chicken, lamb, or combo platter, and trust us, you’re gonna want to take them up on it! The food here is SO good and is always high-quality. We’re so happy that Hamden is currently our closest location, especially because this branch is family owned 🫶 All of their platters are served over basmati rice, and you can design a salad of your choice to pair with it! I did a combo platter with their lamb and marinated chicken, with lettuce, tomato and cucumber salad, chickpeas, peppers and onions, and white sauce, while Colten got kofta with beans, lettuce, tomato and cucumber salad, peppers and onions, hummus, and white and red sauce. You can also customize your own gyro! We did lamb on ours with lettuce, tomato, peppers and onions, hummus, and white sauce. Real ones know that their Philly cheesesteaks and hot wings are a must!! I ordered the falafel platter. First, I had to wait much longer than I was told. Then when it was finally done, I asked if they had a new batch of veggies because it looked really old. Instead of getting fresh veggies she gave me the cucumber and tomatoes that were slightly fresher. I only had 15 minutes left for my lunch so I didn’t speak up when I noticed the falafels were almost black. I should have because when I got back and tried to eat them, they were burnt. I called to see if I could get a refund. They said they don’t refund and only remake the food. I was definitely disappointed. I would have been a repeat customer. Instead, I won’t be back.

I've been waiting for them to open, let alone a halal restaurant in Hamden. Very clean shop, the worker in the front was very nice and polite. She helped me with my order, Chicken Platter & Combo platter with everything. She was very patient with my order and got everything right with extra sauces (on the side & over) The food is on par with every great halal restaurant in CT (Mekah's, Crown Fried Chicken, The Halal Spot, etc iykyk). Serving sizes are very respectable and they even do catering! 5/5, great addition to the diverse choices on Dixwell.

I've been waiting for them to open, let alone a halal restaurant in Hamden. Very clean shop, the worker in the front was very nice and polite. She helped me with my order, Chicken Platter & Combo platter with everything. She was very patient with my order and got everything right with extra sauces (on the side & over) The food is on par with every great halal restaurant in CT (Mekah's, Crown Fried Chicken, The Halal Spot, etc iykyk). Serving sizes are very respectable and they even do catering! 5/5, great addition to the diverse choices on Dixwell.
