Pokémoto - Hamden — Restaurant in Hamden

What’s going on? It was my first time back in years - since pre-COVID and it just seems like this location has gone down hill. I came in on a late afternoon on a holiday so I’m not sure if the staff was just hoping to get out early or I’m unsure if it was busy at all that day, but when I came in I almost ran back out. But when I tell you I’ve been craving pokémoto for some time, I was excited to pick up a poke bowl that day and enjoy it like I used to. Instead when I looked at the tuna in the metal bin, there was barely any left and it was just marinating in what looked like tuna juice. After I picked out my meat I noticed that they don’t even mix the mixings with your sauce of choice anymore instead they just squirt a ton of spicy mayo and throw your toppings on top. I’ve never been concerned that I’d get food poisoning from this place but this time I was scared that I would. I’m giving my review three stars because thank god I did not and I was at least able to have some dinner that day. But unfortunately I won’t be back at this location. I’ll check out their other locations and see if those are...

So, so, so yummy! Great, simple bowl, burrito or salad options. Hawaiian juices available just like in the islands and big serving size of Dole Whip. Wish I'd taken a pic of my dish, but it looked so good that I just dug in. YUM! Also nice, clean, new dining area. However, I would have given 5 stars, but for 2 things. #1 The woman who helped us was unfriendly, when we tried to engage her in conversation she just stared at us like we were wasting her time. I watched other people order and the other servers were great. (I don't know how many tall young black men work there, it's a pretty vague description, but thats all I know and he was an excellent server! I want to make sure he gets that credit). #2 There were no prices obvious anywhere. I hate not knowing what I'm spending and don't want to waste my time or their's asking a million price questions. That said, I'd go again (and hope for a friendlier server)... ...

Definitely gone downhill. I've been overcharged, treated as if i was invisible, the pans are all messy and look as if they haven't been replaced for forever, the avocado is dark and yucky looking. Maybe try covering the avocado with saran wrap - it will last longer, or at least appear appetizing. The person behind the counter barely greets me nowadays, glowers as if i'm a pain in the *, fulfills my order in silence and then noisily turns the register around after ringing me up to present me with her clear demand of a tip. Wonder what would happen if i refused, lol. Unbelievable how this used to be my favorite place....
