Used to love this place, but over the years, the quality of the food seems to have changed. I've been to this Wood N' Tap and many other locations as well. This one is neither better nor worse than the rest. Good for drinks and meeting up with friends, but the food should be eaten immediately. It doesn't taste good cold, unless you got a salad. Their wings were good the first few times I had them, and then they were s* after that. Like I said, I believe the quality of the food has decreased lately. I mean what's with the artisan buns? They're good but so hard to keep a burger inside.
Anyways, I was really disappointed with them after the last few orders. Again, my most recent order was delivery, so I'll give them a break. Like I said, I've been there both in person and delivery many times, and even the spinach dip tastes like the Tostito's spinach dip you can get from the store.
It's an enjoyable American cuisine location, good for families and friends looking to grab a quick bite or watch a game at the bar, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here unless i was with a large group. It's definitely too pricey for the product. But it is what it is, food is expensive right now. So yeah, the place is great for occasional use, like it's a much better experience than a lot of other places, but that's it. Sometimes they have trivia night which is fun. Otherwise I wouldn't really bother. Not a first date kind of place.
We ordered chicken on our salads and this is how much chicken we got per salad...seems a little sparse considering their prices. I feel they could lower their price point slightly and become a high-class version of Chili's or something. But their food is nothing to write home about, and they should play their cards carefully if they want the chain to survive.
Not sure if they have happy hour anymore, but that's probably their lifeline. Like I said, trivia nights there can also be fun. It's just busy in there on weekends and during certain times there are rushes. They have music playing as well, so it can get loud between the babbling an the music. They could work on their cleanliness as well. Like wiping all the tables down before customers sit. I was a waitress so I understand the difficulties, but wiping down the table is just common courtesy. No one wants to sit at a table filled with crumbs.
So yeah, 3/5 is pretty generous considering all the issues that occur here. They should focus more on employee retention. The nachos are good and large for the price, but again, you should eat them asap and not save them for later because they get moist...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped here for dinner about a month ago and when we walked in, there were no employees in sight. We stood at the host stand for 6 minutes before being greeted by the hostess. She sat us and we immediately noticed that every table was unbussed. To say it was a mess is an understatement. Food, wrappers and silverware were everywhere (including all over the floor). We sat there for about 11 minutes before our waiter came by, only to tell us he would be with us soon. There was only one other table of people in the entire restaurant at the time. He gave them their check and then disappeared into the kitchen. As we sat there waiting, we could here a ton of talking and laughing coming from the back of house. It seemed as though everyone working was just hanging out back there, having fun while we were out in the dining room being ignored. Another 10 minutes went by before we decided to leave. We knew it wouldn't be worth the money to stay a moment longer. We are restaurant employees ourselves (FOH manager & BOH pizziolo) and have a lot of patience but this was over the top. As we walked out, my husband grabbed some business cards so he could email management to let them know about our experience. We hope to own a restaurant someday and we would want to know if customers have a bad experience so we can rectify it by analyzing where we went wrong and by providing additional training to our staff. We never heard back from them, unfortunately. The experience has to be TERRIBLE for me to give one stars across the board. I would give zero if given the opportunity in this situation. It's unfortunate because I used to love this restaurant. There has been a steep decline here in...
Read moreThis is for Hamden Connecticut location. We walked in it looked ok. I'm on crutches & my husband a cane & they put us in the corner way back by the fireplace. The chairs out there are hard wood. While the other section they don't use often has soft chairs. Doesn't make sense to me. The smell was so strong of pickles, too strong for me. I got used to it quickly. BUT The overall vibe of the place is lackluster. Seem to walk around listless. No happy workers. At least our waitress was decent. But That's because I made her smile & that made the difference with her. Bathrooms smell terrible. The men's room smells like old pis. The floor is covered in old pis. Seems like they don't clean it often. The woman's bathroom was better but had a weird smell to it. You know what they say, if the bathrooms are gross, the kitchen is usually dirty too. Not saying they are. For most places that's true. Seriously they need to clean better & more. The margarita was not made right, it was bitter. The cheeseburger was good,as is the New England Clam Chouder. Besides that I don't think we will go there again. It's depressing to see all the workers with no smile or a y energy. Except when we left, the person In front, she smiled. When employees all have same look on faces, you know something is not right somewhere in the chain of command. They really need to clean up & have some smiles 😃 in the place. Maybe I was there on a bad day. Don't know. But at least CLEAN...
