This was our first time trying Korean BBQ and we were a little intimidated at first, but Gabbie did a wonderful job of explaining how it works, replacing our grill whenever it got messy, and checking in often enough that we were able to ask any questions we had without any significant waiting. She is awesome!
The meal is all-you-can-eat style, so you order whatever meat and veggies you want and then grill them in a fancy grill built into the middle of the table. It's all sliced into pretty thin cuts and there's a sign with recommended cooking time in each booth, so it's pretty easy to cook everything thoroughly and safely. (And like I said, the servers check in a lot at first to make sure you're good to go.) There's also a buffet table that has a huge variety of sauces and condiments as well as fried dough (delicious!), sesame mochi, cake, oysters, and other seafood. And there's ice cream included with the meal. The only thing that costs extra is if you get a fancy drink. We both were quite stuffed and happy with our meal even though we only ordered one round of meats & veggies.
Oh, and the atmosphere was lovely. I particularly enjoyed a giant screen playing K-pop music videos (although sadly I couldn't hear the music that goes with them).
The only downside is that KPot is pretty pricey ($30-35 for dinner), as you'd expect for an all-you-can-eat place. It's definitely somewhere we'll only go on special occasions as a result, but it's...
Read moreI am happy that most people who visit this restaurant have a good experience. This was not our case. My husband and I went to the Hamden restaurant and had a really bad experience with our server. Knowing this is a buffet style restaurant, we asked the server for the cost of taking some left over soup home. She told us that they only charged for the container and that the cost for the container was 2 dollars. When we received our bill, the charge on the bill was 10 dollars. My husband and I talked to the server and she was rude and insisted that she did not say that it was 2 dollars and that we had to take it home now because it was already given to us. I know that I did not misheard what she said, because my husband heard her say the same thing. I asked to speak with the manager and he was not pleased and told us that there was nothing they could do. I told him that I was not going to take the food home any longer so he finally said that if that was the case he would remove the charge from our credit card. The worst part of the experience was the servers attitude towards us and the fact that she would not admit that she gave us wrong information. We all make mistakes and she really needs to learn how to own up to...
Read moreI want to warn everyone not to dine at this restaurant. We went there on a Saturday afternoon. The hostess didn’t even look at us when we walked in, let alone offer a smile. She was slowly writing something, completely ignoring us. We stood at the entrance awkwardly, feeling very unwelcome. Then, she hesitantly led us to a section and gestured that we should sit there. My friend wanted to switch to a table near the aisle (which had never been an issue before, and the restaurant wasn’t busy at all—there were plenty of empty seats in our section), but she refused, saying it wouldn’t make a difference. I’ve never heard of a restaurant where customers are forced to sit in a specific spot without any flexibility. After she reluctantly allowed us to move, we waited a long time before a server finally came to take our order. The food was mediocre, but the terrible service made the whole experience awful. I won’t be coming back. The bald owner kept wandering around the restaurant and watch people eat. The whole dining experience is so weird and uncomfortable. I have never had such an unpleasant dining experience. If you don’t want to ruin your meal, do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. I’m...
