Naps Grill used to hold a special place in my heart, a go-to spot for a satisfying meal. After a lengthy 12-year absence from the area, I was eagerly anticipating a nostalgic return, hoping to rekindle those fond memories. Unfortunately, that anticipation quickly turned into profound disappointment, leaving me with a bitter taste, quite literally.
We ordered two of their to-go specials, looking forward to enjoying them at home after a short drive. The burgers, which we specifically requested well-done (more on that later), were acceptable enough. However, the fries – oh, the fries – were, quite simply, inedible. They were rock hard, bone dry, and tasted like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for hours, if not longer. I genuinely feared breaking a tooth trying to bite into them; they were so rigid, you could have plucked an eyeball out with one!
What makes this even more frustrating is that it was nowhere near closing time. There was a steady flow of customers going in and out, indicating a busy kitchen. There is absolutely NO excuse for giving a paying customer such crunchy, nasty, old fries like that! The thought of serving such a compromised product when the restaurant is clearly operational and bustling is baffling and utterly unprofessional.
Now, I anticipate some might wonder if our choice of well-done burgers contributed to this. Let me be clear: when you have a 35-minute drive home, a medium burger turns into a soggy, unappetizing mess by the time you sit down to eat. So, to ensure we get a meal we can actually enjoy, well-done is a necessary choice to prevent a ruined, soggy bun. However, this has absolutely zero bearing on the quality of the fries. To suggest that our preference for a well-done burger in a burger joint somehow justifies serving two-hour-old, rock-hard fries is simply unacceptable and frankly, insulting. Get over it.
What was meant to be a nostalgic treat turned out to be a waste of money and a thoroughly disappointing experience. It truly saddens me to say that after years of fond memories, Naps Grill has lost a long-time customer. The quality of those fries, delivered without conscience, is a clear sign that something has drastically changed for the worse. I will not...
Read moreI have been to Nap's grill many times. Yesterday I placed an order @ 4:15 over the phone to pick up @ 4:45 and then meet some friends and family. I got there about 15 minutes early paid for my order, got my drinks hoping the order would be ready soon for me so I could keep going. When I arrived, I noticed the cooks and wait staff were all just talking since there were no customers waiting. @ 4:45 I asked if our order was ready yet and was told they were working on it. Then a group of customers came in and placed their orders. I continued to wait for my order. Then, the customers that had just ordered while we were waiting received their order. I waited a while longer and then asked the staff that was at the counter what happened to my order and why new customers are receiving their orders and mine still wasn't ready. It had been almost an hour since I placed my order. The cook then responded with it will be another 15 minutes. We were already late for our meeting. The manager then came to the register yelling at me accusing me of yelling at his staff (which we didn't) that they are busy and he would just refund my payment for food and I would have to leave and not come back. He did not even ask what was the problem. My wife and I were appalled at his attitude and rudeness and his yelling at me in front of all his customers. While he was yelling very loud at me, my wife even apologized to the staff concerned that they might think it was their fault their boss was yelling.
I will never go back to this restaurant and neither will any of my employees which all work and live in the Hamilton area. I was told a while ago that Nap's had gone downhill but I told them they needed to give them a chance but after this experience I will never recommend them to anyone for a...
Read moreFirst off, I have to lead with the food is absolutely amazing here! There is no complaints whatsoever on the food. The Nap Burger is HUGE, 3/4lb patty! And the deal is the burger, fries and drink for $15, you can't beat it! I ordered the Nap burger deal, with swiss, grilled mushrooms and onions and bacon. Im a pretty good sized dude, and I barely finished the burger, hardly touched the fries! Ok, now to the hard part. I walked in, the bar door because I didn't notice there were 2 different doors, I just went into the first one I came to. No big deal, even though it says wait to be seated, the bartender told me to just sit anywhere, so I went into the main dining room. There I sat for close to 10 minutes before I figured out there no actual table service, you have to go up to the counter and order. Everything is on the menu board up above, so it's easy going. You do pay extra for cheese, bacon, mushrooms, and grilled onions, again, no big deal, that's not unusual. Then you get your own veggie toppings from a salad bar type counter, and drinks are from a typical soda fountain. It gets crowded at the soda fountain, be forewarned. It does take a bit to get your burger, especially when they are busy, but again, no big deal when your talking about a very popular place, as well as hand formed patties and if you order extra toppings, which I did. So, my biggest complaint was not being informed or having something that says order at the counter, but maybe I just didn't look hard enough. The food, absolutely top notch, and I do hope to go back and try other options they have! I highly recommend,...
