In summary, our baby shower party of 12 were ran out of the restaurant in the middle of eating dinner and were being threatened and insulted by our waitress. Extremely RUDE staff. Insinuating we were not going to pay for our bill. (TOTALLY FALSE! we bought whole pies, wine, sandwiches, sides, cakes, etc)
Here is our story:
We asked the owner of Anna's, regarding our circumstances (baby shower and individual checks), if it were okay to host a party of 10-15. No charges for space or minimum check requirements were established with the owner, so we agreed to set the reservation for today (Sunday, April 21st 6PM).
Our waitress brought out our orders and rushed us out, immediately handing us our checks. She demanded that we leave before the cops were called. We did not understand why, for we were in the middle of eating and in the middle of a surprise sex baby shower dinner. She insisted that we had a minimum check requirement for $100 that was unmet and that she had received word that we were not going to pay our checks or tip our waitresses. This is ultimately false, for we CHOSE ANNA's specifically for dinner instead of hosting it at one of our homes because we heard the food was amazing and planned to indulge as paying customers. Also, we manually added up all of our checks and it came out to OVER $115. After we told her this, she then said that we were being kicked out because not all of us were ordering. Two guests left after 15 minutes because they had to go to work, every one else ordered dinner, and the only person who did not order food, ordered a glass of wine with the intention of having more than one glass. Our waitress then proceeded to tell us that, "we are not a banquet service" and that they booked the place and allowed us in their establishment "under false pretenses".
We have never been more humiliated in our lives. Especially in celebrating something as beautiful as a baby-shower, the gift of life.
I feel that the Better Business Bureau should be aware that ANNA's Italian Restaurant on Big Bethel gave me the most unprofessional and degrading service I've ever experienced in my 24 years living in Hampton, VA.
I was born and raised here and have a fair amount of food service and specialty food business experience under my belt. I acquired this experience before during and after pursing my degree at Virginia Tech and am completely appalled at the way we were treated.
We all personally plan to speak with the owner in regards to our horrible experience in hopes that he/she performs the corrective measures necessary to ensure that this never happens again to any of...
Read moreI attended my brother in lawâs 6th birthday party here. I am not generally the type to write a review, however the experience that my family had tonight was unacceptable. We understand that we have a large family, so my mother in law called ahead and reserved a table for 8:15 p.m. Due to the winter storm, our plans were pushed forward, so she called a second time asking if the time could be moved up. When we arrived with a party of 10, we were approached by a waitress. She came up to my mother in law with the most disgusting attitude I have ever seen. Her words were âWhen we spoke on the phone, you said this wasnât a kids party.â Since this wasnât a kids party, and just a family dinner, my mother in law asked her what the problem was. To which the waitress responded âwell we donât do kids parties here.â My mother in law had to then explain to her that this was in fact not a kids party, just a large family trying to eat dinner. (2 parents, 1 grandparent, 1 adult child and myself, as well as 2 teenagers, 2 children above the age of 10, and the 6 year old.) The waitress then proceeded to say âWe spoke on the phone and you were scheduled for 8:15 - when we arenât busyâ. She had to be reminded that we called a second time to confirm an earlier time. After that, she walked towards the other waitress and threw her hands in the air saying âIâm not serving themâ. Her attitude was the most obnoxious thing, and throughout the whole dinner it was an awkward experience. I have never seen such terrible customer service in my life. If you read the websiteâs about description it states: âWhat makes us so popular with our customers is our outstanding food and service. So, if you're around the neighborhood, don't hesitate to give us a visit. Trust us, you're in for a real treat.â. I think the owners should really know how their employees behave before putting that statement on...
Read moreI went to this restaurant because I was craving a salad. I order an Italian salad with no tomato or onion. I asked for ranch and added grilled chicken. When I picked up the order, not only were none of my request honored except the chicken, but they didn't even include the other meat that comes with the salad. I was going to let it go when I saw the tomato and onion, but with no ranch, and no meat (other than the chicken I paid extra for) I had to call and let them know to make it right. They offered to remake the salad but I was home for the night and didn't feel like going back out. They offered to give me a credit which I agreed to, but the "owner" was being very short and her tone was obviously that of irritation that I had the audacity to let them know they messed my order up. I was calm, and polite the entire time and did not deserve the attitude. I asked for a way to the credit in writing, via an email or something since I didn't want to run into the issue of going up there to claim my credit and they tell me they don't know anything about it. She proceeded to give more attitude and say, "But you've never had that issue here so I told you I'll give you a credit." Again, very irritating. I told her to keep her credit and I won't be back and she said, "OK bye."...
