Best overall food establishment at Hampton...hands down. I'm a firm believer in 3 things a restaurant needs to not just stand above the rest..but more importantly and simply...be what we as food loving creatures should expect from a place we hand our hard earned money over to. #1. Clean: Farr's absolutely nails this one. For an older building it was SPOTLESS. The absolute first and last thing I noticed and talked about when we went in for a late lunch. #2. Passion/pride in what you do for a living: The answer to my 3rd thing will answer this perfectly. #3. Service with a REAL smile: It wasn't fake and in your face through clenched teeth. It was the polar opposite. Judy was taking a quick bite break at 3:30..obviously in a between lunch and dinner lull. Here I come to mess up her quiet time to ask why it was so empty when the place is so nice and clean?...not realizing me and my family had come off the beach for lunch 3 hours after lunch time. Judy politely said that they are fine and have plenty of business and that it was just a slower time of the day. To which I clarified that I wasn't assuming something must be wrong with the place and that I just wanted her to know how great it looked in there. She thanked me and I thought that was that. However this amazing , hard working woman decided to come outside while the wife and I were having a smoke waiting for our food and PASSIONATELY tell us about the restaurant and exactly why it was slow at this moment and this time of year. She got us an ash tray, told us about how they roast all their boned chicken and dang near begged us to come back a night and try it (we had only gotten boneless tenders for lunch.) We said our goodbyes and Judy, going above and beyond again, stopped and asked us if we got any sauces for our tenders. We told her just some honey mustard. She RAN inside and got us their honey garlic, her homemade Buffalo (best flavor/most perfect kick I've had in a sauce!), and a AMAZING piece of cornbread...on the house. We told her we would be back FOR SURE. We're going back tomorrow night and the next. This, I believe, is our duty as customers when the people and places serving you meet/exceed the standards we ask of them! GREAT JOB...
Read moreFirst time here since they reopened, I was excited as it was good when we went many years ago-- not like it used to be. First you have to order at the counter now and pay when you order (so you can't tip based on service & quality after you've dined). There is no booth seating anymore, tables & chairs. I liked the key west chicken decor, and they had fans so it was comfortable, but the atmosphere was modern, sparse, not cozy for a sit-down place, Even if you order dine-in its served in take out boxes w/ paper plates, plastic utensils like fast food. They opened at 11am-- there was no iced tea or iced coffee at noon, as both had just been brewed. They appeared to be training the staff and from the beginning nothing was right. We were a party of 4, first I was rung out and then noticed a soda was forgotten, had to go to the counter and get rung out again for the soda. Then they brought a sangria to our table (we didn't order any alcohol), then they brought the food and they had put chicken on a salad even though I specifically asked for NO chicken on the salad, when I told her she asked if I wanted her to remake it-- Obviously it's not what I ordered and the salad was for a vegetarian, so yes. they remade it, he said it was a very good salad so that's a plus. Then they brought my son's meal but came back a few minutes later to take it away because they realized they had given us a box of tenders meant for the other table (there were really only 2 tables with people at the time) so they took food back that had already been placed in front of someone at the table for several minutes, he only hadn't touched it because he had gone to wash his hands, makes me wonder was my son's wings sitting in front of someone at the other table for that same amount of time? The chicken & waffles wasn't served with syrup, we had to get up and go ask for some. Food quality was good, but just not a great dining experience with the multiple mix ups, lunch for 4 including a $6 kids meal was...
Read moreWe had visited this famous chicken spot well vacationing in Hampton there was miscommunication as what was asked was for boneless chicken apparently the older lady on duty didn't understand the word boneless and made all bone wings which I do not eat I let her know when the order came out that there were bones in the wings and that I had ordered boneless I was very nice with absolutely no attitude as we were having a great night the lady freaked out saying that I told her bone wings which is impossible because I have not eaten bone Wings my entire life. I just don't like eating anything off of a bone it weirds me out. I then kept my cool and proceeded to ask them to remake my order or give me a refund if it would be an issue and we would go somewhere else as I didn't want a problem and we are having a good day she walked away and wouldn't help or discuss the situation the owner came out and started giving me a problem saying I was wrong and I must have said bones I explained that I never eat anything off the bone.... they made a big issue of this because they had to throw away an order of Bones... by the end of it we waited over an hour for the order we're treated very poorly and argued with to the point the lady and owner were both yelling all we wanted was our money back and they refused. Out of principle I stood my ground and watched the food be made then left. We were hoping after all that the food would be decent but it was not it was your basic run-of-the-mill Fried Chicken with not much flavor to it at all. The whole experience was terrible as I believe this establishment needs a reality check on how customer service...
