Disappointed. The customer service and cleanliness of this place is fantastic. I had gotten out of a meeting late decided not to cook. I stumbled across this place on the way home and decided to give it a try after hearing it was black owned hopped over there.
The parking was a little tight and it's a shared location with Smoothie King next door. It's glassed out so I could see upon arriving a group of employees from both locations in corner sharing a table. Kennedy greeted me. She was very pleasant, answered all questions and took my order. Jerk Bowl and Salmon Bowl with brown rice. She offered a sample of tea and lemonade which was pretty good and I decided to get one for my husband. The food took about 15ish minutes to make 1-2 people placed orders after me and everyone was pretty spaced out except for the group employees.
The food was bagged when I received it and I left a 25% tip based on that experience alone. Now for the disappointment...
After being out in the elements, I came home with the bag, showered and went to grab my baby. My husband uncovered the food and I swapped bowls with him knowing I had the salmon. I was so sad when I saw the white rice. Knowing I could not eat it. I called and explained, everyone was "nice" and offered to remake it and refund, but could only refund in person as they hadn't "figured out" the system on electronic refunds. I was told I would get a call back within 30 mins or at least before close of business. I didn't get the call, I paid $36 and change (including tip) for two rice bowls and tea and could not even eat it. My husband ate his bowl and tried mine before I threw it away.
I think closer attention to details of the order would be nice. I have dietary restrictions and could not eat it. It looked and smelled nice. I also think follow through with complaints and "figuring out" the refund system would be optimal because this business is very near the airport and no one traveling would want to hear "could you come back so we can refund you," when they are on the plane. I live at least 15 mins away and did not want to leave my son to have another 30 min round trip commute just because they hadn't taken the time to review monetary exchange practices.
Maybe I would give them another try, let's see if I get a call.
Update: No one called, I...
Read moreMy reviews usually glow with praises. For this place, I could not. The staff was unfriendly - they didn’t even let us know our food was ready. My friend and I stepped right outside of the front doors to discuss a personal matter. We waited and waited and waited - no waive, or nod, or, “hey your food is ready.” Nothing. The young lady in the lobby on her cell phone just watched us. When we opened the front door to check on our order they pulled the dishes off a delivery shelf like we were a call-in order. Then there was the meal itself. The place gets decent reviews normally - so I have to guess that the server who made our dishes was heavy handed with the teriyaki sauce. The chicken teriyaki bowl was DRENCHED in sodium-filled sauce so badly that it wasn’t edible. I had traveled all day, and had just arrived in town so I was absolutely STARVING - and they took so long to fix it - so I tried to get the food down. That was apparently a HUGE mistake. When I concluded that the sauce was drenched throughout the meal - and continuing to consume the sodium sauce could give me a hypertension headache- I ultimately asked the young lady at the counter what she could do about making us new bowls without so much sauce. The staff refused to fix the problem. I had attempted to take my good friend out to dinner - but we could not even enjoy the food. I wasted my $23.00. The Staff simply took the food back with no refund or even an apology. Mint, the manager, looked at us and refused to assist us in ANY way - accept to tell me that if I didn’t appreciate the service- I should write a Google review. Well Mint, I followed your directions. I love following and supporting Black business- so this customer service failure cut me like a knife. I live in the DMV - I eat out 2 or 3 days per week. Never experienced this. This place was a customer...
Read moreI will never visit this restaurant again!!! I even ordered ahead online for pick up.
For my lunch break, a few coworkers and I had made orders online so it could be ready before we get there. When I arrive with another coworker to pickup our orders the employee didn't even start on the first one yet and said it will be a wait. We end up having to wait an hour to finally get our food and leaving with three rice bowls instead of the four we ordered originally, because we had to cancel a order since it was taking so long and we were already way past our lunch break. Also, the entire time we were there the two employees were very slow and very rude. We received one bowl at first and it seemed like they completely forgot about the other three, because they gave one bowl to a customer who came in after us. When we said something they told us that it was because they had to cook some more rice and that there was none left neither brown or white rice. It was only until after 10 mins when we voiced our distress and urgency that all of a sudden they find some rice that was already cooked. Terrible I tell you. The food was not good either. The rice was cold and the salmon was Luke warm. Being that it was my first time having the food I would have to say I was disappointed. That was one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. What is the point of online ordering if it's not ready when I get there or at least started.
