Chili's Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Harlingen

Just left Chilis and had the worst wait staff experience ever which is very unusual with my previous experience. When we arrived and were seated at table 23 tonight 10/13/24. I won’t mention the waitress name here. It took her awhile to even come and get our drink order and when she did she was like in a rush wouldn’t let us finish ordering when she started walking off and we had to call her back. When we finally placed order someone else brought us or meal and never came back to see how order came back. We waited sometime waiting for her to come by so we can ask for an extra plate and we had no napkins. During my dinning I also had to flag her down for a refill on my drink which she flew by and grab my glass and didn’t even check if my spouse needed a refill.she did have a favorite table that she attended to very well. she made numerous of trips to this table As I was paying she noticed that I was filling out the survey and came to our table to ask if there was a problem. Where I started to address my experience with her and I told her I’m sure your manager will discuss my survey with you and went on to say, Oh they never read those. She went on to say that she had been there all day and that she apologized for the experience. As we walked out she was at her favorite table AGAIN and I commented to her, there you are at your favorite table agin and she yelled at me in front of the other customers that she was giving them change. I want to give this place a good review but after my last 2 visits, Harlingen Chili's is getting 2 stars. I had a not-so-good visit during a slow weekday lunch time and this evening for dinner. It seems to be the same problems and then some!

The waitresses we got both times just seemed to... kinda forget about us CONSTANTLY. I mean taking over 10 minutes for some soft drinks or like this evening, not getting utensils, taking our salt and pepper for another table, having to ask for my dippings sauce twice, asking for a refill then just not get my drink back. Ok, she's busy with her tables; nope! Just chatting with the hostess, a little too loudly about an 'annoying guest' might I add.

I get venting about guests, but don't do it in the front of the house! The chicken dish I had been looking forward too was dry and my daughter's kids meal pizza was soggy. All in all, I came with my child as a treat, a fun girl dinner and each time we left disappointed. Its not often families get to dine out sometimes, so when you do, you want a pleasant experience. Ordered the skillet trio for the first and last time, fajita shrimp chicken, with rice and beans, server tried to sub the beans for me but management wasn't having it, apparently those sides are complementary. My order arrived way after everyone else's, veggies were very hard instead of sauteed, double rice was very under cooked. Flour torts were rubber. Fajitas were good, shrimp and chicken was ok. The meal value was definitely not there... November 2022 visit. Wasn't bad. I tried something different. Ordered a kids meal with a side of mash. Wasn't too hungry and it turned out to be perfect. Wife had the usual ( crispers with street corn) Daughter in law had a steak, mash and street corn. Not a bad visit------- 1-28-2024 visit.
