First time having brunch here and the abeyance was nice I love there decore . Now the server was nice but she was very uniformed of her menu. She said they had run out of French toast so I ordered chocolate waffles. She comes back and says they don't have any and it will be a 30 minute wait if I would like some. So I tell her I will wait she then goes to the kitchen and comes back and tells me that the wait is actually 1 hour. She then tell me about a delicious blueberry croissant if I would like to try it so I tell her that's fine I'll try that. Five minutes past by and the manager comes to our table with an attitude repeated the same thing the server told us about the chocolate waffles raising her voice. I felt she was doing that so we can stop asking for the waffles. Her excuse for not having the chocolate waffles was that they had a big party so that's why they were not going to make any more waffles batter. There should be no excuse or blame it on a big party why the chef decides not to make an item on the menu endless they run out of the ingredients. I felt the manager made it feel that the big party was more important than the rest of the customers. Time passed by, and the food came out. it was delicious, nothing to complain about the food. By the time we finished, the manager came to our table, and asked us if we needed anything, and I told her yes I just needed the blue berry croissant. She then leaves, and 20 minutes later passes by and the server comes and asks us if we were ready for our ticket. I was confused because I was still waiting for my croissant. so I asked her, to just cancel the croissant and she apologized, that she had forgotten about it, and thought the manager had brought it over to our table. We then proceeded to pay and left with a bad taste of...
Read moreLaurel Park Bistro in Harlingen Texas, is wonderful French - American restaurant. The staff is friendly accommodating and very cordial. Given its location, they have attempted and succeeded at paying attention to the smallest details. Everything from the French linen napkins to the fresh flowers was absolutely perfect. The menu offers a variety of wonderful foods, but to me the true test of an accomplished chef is their ability to cook a truly French omelet. While an omelet sounds deceivingly simple, it is a technical skill that can showcase, a chef’s abilities. Let me tell you, in technical ability the omelet was perfect, in addition to being delicious. I can't wait to return and sample all the other dishes. About the only criticism I could have about the restaurant is that, with its incredible dishes, they will soon be unable to accommodate all the people that will want to go there. The restaurant is tiny. I kind of hope everyone ignores this review and goes...
Read moreThis was a lovely experience. It was our first time there.
It’s a small business with a couple running the kitchen and orders, so best to go with some patience and time to spare. Not a problem for us. If you want something good, it takes time.
We ordered three sandwiches, but be warned — one can be enough for two. I had the Otaggio on focaccia bread. It came with spicy, roasted eggplant, arugula, artichokes, Parmesan slices, sun-dried tomatoes and a bright, crunchy pesto. I really enjoyed the contrasting textures of the eggplant against the coarse pesto and the flavor combination of the tart artichoke and nuttiness of the cheese.
We also had the blood orange sorbet that delivered on the burst of citrus as promised.
If you have a chance to stop by, it’s definitely worth the trip (and...
