I had to remove my original review as this place has gone downhill since the new ownership has taken place. It's just not going in a good direction and really needs to shape up. As a long time lover of this place, it hurts to say that I can't recommend it anymore.
First, the service. Everyone just seems to be in a not so great mood. It's as if no one wants to take orders or even be there. It's almost like they could care less if you were there or not. There is no one server or sushi chef that seems to stick around and it causes a huge lack in communication. There has almost always been a new person every time I've been.
Second, the portion sizes are all over the place and the quality is hit and miss. I have plenty of pictures of how awesome the food used to be, but now it's just not there. I know it takes a while for the food, but this last time was almost abysmal. I had started to think we were forgotten about. My dishes weren't fully done and, again, the portion sizes were smaller than before whilst still paying full price.
Third, why is there no consistency with the music volume? Even with the few people that do show up, the music is almost intolerable. In some instances, I love the Lo-fi music that plays, but sometimes a random song with way too much saxophone just gets blasted across the speakers as if they want to drive everyone out of there.
Lastly, those of you who are trying to get through by phone, I wish it was just an oversight or them being busy with someone, but I have actively watched them either straight up ignore it, or wait to the last second to answer and shrug as if they tried. Could you not wait to carry your conversation with the sushi chefs until they were less busy or actually not had things to do? It's a wonder things are taking more time than they should. Sure, be social but not when they have only two chefs trying to make five or more rolls for multiple tables.
Again, as a long time fan of this place, I am so saddened that I can no longer recommend this place. What once was my go-to place for sushi is just not it anymore.
To the owner/s, I hope you are reading these reviews and taking notes. I don't call myself a critic or even the authority figure on restaurant management. I'm not even sure I could make half the food on the menu but you have long time customers that are going away. Something...
Read moreWe were very disappointed in our experience, today. We went for our granddaughter's birthday it's an annual thing with our grandkids (with each one of their birthdays). The young lady that sat us DID NOT let us know that their Hibachi chef had quit a few days before. OR We would have done things differently. However, we got seated at the Hibachi grill waitress came and got our drink order and our appetizer order and she said NOTHING about NOT HAVING A HIBACHI CHEF, either. We got our drinks, soup and salad and the appetizer. She took our order ... now we were there at 1 PM on a Sunday. Things are going well (other than the salads were drowning in dressing), we were enjoying ourselves.... Next thing we were waiting on was the guy to wheel out his little prepared cart full of our goodies. NOPE....two waitresses showed up with luch plates (we had all ordered Dinner Portions so we could have leftovers for dinner, tonight)! Now, with all that being said...we would have just done something different! So here is the breakdown: Soup ~ amazing! Salad ~ swimming in dressing! Meats on everyone's plates ~ drowning in sauces! Those of who wanted noodles not rice ~ got both noodles and rice NO VEGGIES!!! Everyone that ordered rice wanted FRIED RICE ~ Missed that one, too. It was just colored white steamed rice. Appetizers: Crunchy Roll & Dragon Roll were delicious! Service felt rushed đ Atmosphere dull đ They need to quit using the kitchen mop to mop the dining room floor. It is super slick!!! Price ~ OVER CHARGED!!! NO LEFTOVERS, EITHER!! So so...
Read moreMy husband is a door dasher and he had gotten samples of the food from here. He kept saying how it was soooo good. We decided to drive an hour and try it.. We ordered the crab ragoon. It was alright but super greasy. We ordered two sushi rolls. They were the best thing here. We ordered the spicy tuna roll and the lord of the rings roll. The lord of the rings roll was really good! The reason for 2 stars. Then we decided to order the steak and shrimp hibachi. The waitress asked us how we wanted our steak cooked. I said Medium Rare. Anyone who has ordered a steak knows what medium rare is suppose to look like. It's got a red center and suppose to be juicy. My steak was damn near black and hard to chew. The shrimp was very small and had a weird dry flavor to them. The vegetables were hard as rocks and the rice wasn't cooked all the way. I'm sorry but paying $22.99 for that is a rip off. Our waitress kept apologizing for everything. My husband drank all of his Dr pepper and she brought him a sweet tea. I was the one drinking a tea. So he waited well over 45mins to get another soda. Then we go to pay and on the receipt it says for cash pay the total is $87 something and for a card it's $91 something. I was like wow where is a sign that should say, for all debit/credit cards there is a 3% credit card fee applied? Needless to say we will not be back. I'll stick to going to Mountain home if I want...
