Update
After speaking to the manager and coming back in, the service was great with Kristina. The MOD handled our situation more than what we were looking for and we will be back if and when in the area.
Food was great, no problems there. The service however from a Trainer was less than stellar. We showed up to the establishment with a Party of Three we were Sat by a young lady who then took our drink orders and was getting ready to take our food order when another mail server abruptly approached our table with a Hello how are you guys doing I like to just take over when I train. We were put off a little bit because we didn't know who the person was they didn't introduce themselves the first young lady did say that she was in training. This trainer then takes our food order forgets our daughter's order to be put in never checks back on the table after our food was served the trainee did which is when we told her that our daughter's food was missing. the trainer then wouldn't come to the table until after the food was delivered by that time the rest of us were finished. The Trainer did get the manager to take it off the bill. When we got out bill delivered by the Trainer there were more errors on the receipt (things we didn't order), they were taken off and we paid. After the check was dropped the Trainer hovered over our table I'm assuming to see what we were going to leave him, no idea but it was uncomfortable. After we paid we saw the young lady trainee and asked her if she split tips with her trainer and she said yes, so we have her a few extra dollars because during the dining experience we assumed she was the trainer, she's a keeper. As we are having this conversation while walking out the front door the Trainer was all of a sudden right behind us trying to figure out what we were talking to his trainee for. Very uncomfortable situation all together, very unprofessional of a Trainer of an establishment. We did leave him a tip despite the performance reluctantly. We will be calling the establishment today when they open to discuss further, but it was late at night and needed to get home or we would have...
Read moreTonight I went to the wooden tap in Hartford. The service was subpar. We had to ask multiple times for napkins and straws. Individuals who came after us were served first. I specifically asked for no meat in my appetizers. The quesadillas the first two that I ate had all cheese. The third had bacon. The manager felt it was okay because he took the charge off the bill. He wasnt understanding of the situation and felt it was okay. I felt discriminated and marginalized at this particular wood n tap because what if I was allergic to the meat(bacon). Would it be okay and easily dismissed. I haven't eaten pork red meat or chicken in almost five years due to religious reasons and I have now broken my vow. This situation was not easy for me to deal with so to be easily dismissed was disheartening. I'm beginning to feel unwell. My stomach in knots, my head hurting and throwing up but I still paid my bill. I didn't want the police to be called on me for walking out or not paying my bill being one of the few black patrons in the establishment. It's obvious that this wood n tap in Hartford doesn't make fresh food. It is pre done and probably microwaved because how can a mistake like bacon being put in a quesadilla happen. If its fresh. It's also obvious that this wood n tap doesnt care about their...
Read moreWood-n- tap always brings it. Great winter menu. Everything from the winter menu was fantastic. Service is always proficient. Any occasion from celebrations to I'm just plain hungry. Wood n tap has what you want. Cozy dining room and private room for larger groups available.
I highly recommend warming up on a cold winter stay with the butternut squash soup pairs well with sweet beet and arugula salad. That's a meal in itself right there..
But the entrees they have like the bourbon glaze. Salmon is my go-to. Mixed vegetables and sweet potato on the side is definitely a nice flavor combination.
Short rib is definitely a winter classic favorite. Especially with the mushroom risotto.
And if you're a sandwich person they have you covered with patty melt
They also have two desserts available. The flourless chocolate cake. Which is gluten free and lives up to its name chocolate divine. Also nice little winter classic is the walnut apple crisp.
The amazing selection of winter inspirations on the cocktails as well. No matter what the season is, I definitely love a flight.... Enjoy dark cherry, winter citrus, a crisp ginger and finish it off with the classic. Margarita.
Also, another favorite of the winter menu is the rise and chai cocktail.
Also, the winter sangria is another...
