I ordered a large steak and cheese with mushrooms and onions. I expected a reasonably good sandwich, what I got was something I did not expect. Okay....these guys really know how to build one heck of a tasty sandwich. First, I made certain to ask what kind of cheese they normally use. He said provolone !! Give him the first star !! I have been served some of the nicest looking steak and cheese sandwiches at other shops, only to bite into it with mouthwatering zeal....only to stop ....dead in my tracks...not even wanting to chew or swallow the glob of American cheese that destroyed the whole sandwich. So, these guys know how the sandwich should be made. Next, he asked if I wanted the onions grilled...I did...but he thought enough to ask....Give them another star. They only start to cook the shaved steak once you order it. They don't precook it and have it sitting under a heat lamp to save time...nope - not here.... Give them another star ! They seasoned the meat just right...then they cooked it to perfection, yep - another star !!Then, they stuffed the fresh roll (which was an excellent quality roll,) until it was about to burst. You know the drill - give 'em another star! They finished it the right way with a quick trip through the searing hot pizza oven. Yep, it was an extra step, a little more work, but man, I am here to tell you... that they do it right. Alright...I've run out of stars, but you get the idea.... No shortcuts....they don't cheap out on anything. Head over when you are hungry. If they are that particular about doing things the right way and setting their standards high on the sandwich, I would expect it would be the same for the rest of their menu. They have a passion for quality. They have won over my heart and my stomach !!!! So, in the words of the Terminator......(and in my best Arnold...
Read moreWe come to Dennis Port every year and this place is always on the list of must visits.
Unfortunately, this year (2021) the services was greatly reduce due to staffing shortage. We called and they didn't answer. After 3 attempts, decided to drive there and place order in person. Arrived and they had one line for both p/u and ordering. They eventually split the line into two. Pre-order and waiting to order. They proceeded to wait on the pre-orders and not folks waiting to order. Alternating between the two lines would have been nice. It took 30 minutes to place order then another 30 minutes for them to prepared. While I was waiting to order, they were still taking order over the phone instead of waiting on customers in the store. Not a happy experience. I am expecting the same level of service at restaurants for the remainder of our time on the Cape this year.
I do feel sorry for businesses this season. I see the same things around Boston. Not sure the issues but most likely tied to wages. Stay home and get an extra $300/per week above the standard unemployment money. For most people working in the service industry, this actually represents a raise in takehome wages. I worry about the level of employee who will be available once the $300/wk bonus goes away and these folks attempt to re-enter the work force.
As an employer, do you really want to hire somebody who decided to sitting on the sideline and taking the bonus unemployment money or folks that returned to work, worked hards, and put in the time to earn their money. I am not stating that this is true of all folks who are unemployed. This reminds me of a scene from Christmas Vacation when we learned that Cousin Eddie is unemployed and was holding out for a management position with having no experience. If you read this entire...
Read morell. 1-4) Beginning with thee, O Phoebus, I will recount the famous deeds of men of old, who, at the behest of King Pelias, down through the mouth of Pontus and between the Cyanean rocks, sped well-benched Argo in quest of the golden fleece.
(ll. 5-17) Such was the oracle that Pelias heard, that a hateful doom awaited him to be slain at the prompting of the man whom he should see coming forth from the people with but one sandal. And no long time after, in accordance with that true report, Jason crossed the stream of wintry Anaurus on foot, and saved one sandal from the mire, but the other he left in the depths held back by the flood. And straightway he came to Pelias to share the banquet which the king was offering to his father Poseidon and the rest of the gods, though he paid no honour to Pelasgian Hera. Quickly the king saw him and pondered, and devised for him the toil of a troublous voyage, in order that on the sea or among strangers he might lose his home-return.
(ll. 18-22) The ship, as former bards relate, Argus wrought by the guidance of Athena. But now I will tell the lineage and the names of the heroes, and of the long sea-paths and the deeds they wrought in their wanderings; may the Muses be the...
