5/2025 This place and the food, staff, and atmosphere still rocks it! Yum, yum, and onolicious! 😋🤙✌️
Finally able to get here. They were closed last time I drove by this Waimea location. It's worth the wait. Not complicated blood but little different, home town, local and ono. I had Guy's Sausage for breakfast, their homemade version. Tasty with a good little kick. I'm glad I tried it. Hash browns aren't frozen types either and pancakes on the larger side. I eat like a horse, and this was a great economic start to the day. Uncle behind me had the tripe stew for breakfast. I stopped by on my way to the Waimea Farmers Market that's 5 minutes up the road. Service by entire staff was great and had the hometown feel. Simple, friendly, courteous, fast. Kathryn was great and hostess very welcoming! Watching Uncle eat his tripe stew, I'll be back tomorrow for the Pulehu Ribs and Stew of your Choice Combo special before they run out. Brah! It's worth the drive from Waikoloa. 😉🤙✌️
3/24/22 Had the Paniolo, not available every day. Shut the front and back door, broke da mouth. Oh, and before I forget again, this place is cash only! Small orientation to pay for ono upcountry cooking. 😉🤙✌️
3/30/22 Hana Hou on the Paniolo Combo! Don't sweat the wait. You're on the Big Island. You gotta drive a little bit to get here anyway. Relax and enjoy! 😋🤙✌️
7/2022 Still rocking the awesome combination Beef Stew and Kalbi Ribs! Broke it, baby! 😉🤙✌️
11/2022 Back for work on the island and always a must stop. Always happy when they got Pulehu Ribs available. 🤙Over the many visits, I have to give a shout out to the hard-working staff. Waitresses on the floor are always so friendly. The back of the house / bussers also work really hard. Props to the kitchen staff as I always like watching and listening to the cooks manage the always busy morning rush, and yet they're cool and consistent. The owners are lucky to have a great team like that. Oh, and I forgot to mention - fresh hash browns only and not the frozen stuff. Nice! 😉👍 🤙✌️
5/2023 Missed the Pulehu Ribs, but the Kahlua Hash w Guy's Sausage was ono! Ans always friendly service. 🤙✌️
5/2023 2.0 This is my 2nd visit this month. Popped the clutch and shifted gears. Was in the mood again for Pulehu Ribs but denied for the past five times. They were out again, so this time went old school. I got the Beef Stew and Luau stew combo. Of course, Ono-freeking-licious! Gonna try a sixth time next month. 😉😋🤙✌️
6/2023 Always an absolute must when I'm in town. Broke da mouth onolicious! Had the Beef luau with Hamburger Steak. Auwe! 😉🤙✌️
4/2024 Happy Happy Day! It's been a long time since I was able to get my fix. Pulehu Short Ribs with a side of Beef Stew! Yeeesssaaah! Allison gave great and friendly service as well. Was a great start to...
Read more05/10/2025 (Sat) On the last day of our stay, we decided to stop by Hawaiian Style Café in Waimea, as we had heard that it’s a popular local spot known for its generous portions and welcoming, laid-back vibe. Curious and eager to experience it for ourselves, we made it our final breakfast stop — and it turned out to be a great choice.🌺
We arrived around 10:30 AM and found a small line, with two or three groups waiting ahead of us. Thankfully, we were seated in about 10 minutes. The restaurant has a cozy and cheerful atmosphere, with a small main dining area and an additional space in the back. That back section had two 2-person tables and about three larger tables that could seat 6 to 8 people. We were shown to one of the back tables, which felt quiet and relaxed.🌴
For our meal, we ordered the Kalua Omelet ($17.95) with an added Haupia Pancake (+$4.95), and the Beef Stew ($15.95) with a side of French Fries (+$1.50). We also got a coffee ($2.95) and a glass of POG juice ($3.95). The staff let us know in advance that the beef stew would take a bit longer, and it arrived after about 30 minutes, while the omelet was served in about 20.
Though we usually don’t eat such hearty meals in the morning, we were impressed by how flavorful and tender the beef stew was — it had been slowly cooked to perfection and we finished every bite. The Kalua Omelet was satisfying as well, and the haupia pancake added a sweet, creamy island touch to the meal.
All of the staff were cheerful and pleasant, and their warm service added to the experience. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and would love to return if we ever come back to Waimea. It’s a great spot to enjoy a relaxed, local-style breakfast in a friendly and...
Read moreDo not Uber or Lyft to this location (see note in my parking comments). Ok, now to the good stuff.
I can't say enough amazing things about this place. First of all every one of the employees is friendly, courteous and helpful.....but then again we found that to be the case with all of the locals as long as you treat them with respect. That being said, of you are lucky enough to get April as your server, you are in for a treat. She was absolutely fantastic. Now to the food......the Haupia Pancakes seriously create an out of body experience. I've never tasted a combination of flavors like that. We checked out of the hotel early on our last day just so we could go back and have the pancakes one more time before our flight left. Now lets move onto this version of Loco Moco we had called the Moco-saurus (or something like that). It was all the meats (burger patty, spam, chicken cutlet and kalua pork). Never in a million years would I have put this combination of ingredients together and sad to say because of that I would have never eaten something so flat out delicious. Awe man, my mouth is watering thinking about it. Make sure you ask for some Hawaiian chili pepper water to go with it, you won't be disappointed. Make sure you bring cash because this is a CASH ONLY establishment. They do have an ATM...
