If you are looking for fancy dining then this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for authentic, flavorful Thai food with the freshest ingredients, then don’t miss this place. We were originally planning to dine at the nearby restaurant just across the street. But the wait was too long, so we decided to give this Thai restaurant a try. And we did not regret!! Everything were reasonably priced. The curry was probably 11.95 and the fresh catch of the day was 14.95. We ordered the fried tofu, seafood red curry, fresh catch (fish) of the day and the larb pork. The seafood curry was very flavorful and the taste was very balanced, not too sweet and not too spicy. The seafood was fresh and cooked perfectly. There were big prawns and squid and scallop. For the fish of the day we can have it made in anyway we want. And the fish was mahi mahi. We asked for the mahi mahi to be cooked with eggplant and sweet basil. Man!! Super fresh and tasty! The larb pork was a ground pork stir fry with onions, fish sauce, lime and probably lemongrass and fragrant leaves. Honestly I do make them at home but they did it better than me lol. You can also do larb chicken or beef if you don’t like pork. But personally I think pork is the best. Anyway, I am from California and we have so many Thai restaurants there. But I think Hilo Siam is so far one of the best ones I’ve ever been, partly because of the fresh ingredients that we probably won’t be able to get over there. I also think they prepared it really well. If I ever return to Big Island I will surely...

We place at least four to six DoorDash orders from this location each month. We ALWAYS order the same dishes. We ordered takeout for dinner because they had recently reopened after being closed for over a month and a half. When ordering over the phone, I was very particular on the quantity of the items and extremely thorough about what it was we were getting (our usuals).

Upon picking up our takeout, I was surprised when I saw that the total was about $80 dollars. I was accused by the man who was working of placing four orders of Cashew Chicken. I informed him that over the phone, I had expressly requested two orders of that. He refuted it, claiming that I ordered four orders of the Cashew Chicken but I KNOW FOR A FACT I only ordered two because why the hell would I order four (for only two people?). I just apologized because I wasn’t about to go back and forth with this man. He went on to tell me that I was wrong and that I should have asked for two. As previously mentioned, I frequently place orders from this restaurant , so I know how to order and we consistently place the same order, always.

The man working was very rude to me. In front of a couple dining there, he added, "Next time, say two, not four," and the man laughed at me. I was really ashamed. I'm positive I said two, not four. I had a really bad experience with the service. Unfortunately, even though I love their food, I almost never want to place another order from them. And I still tipped the man even though he was...

Had a terrible experience at this restaurant. When we called to ask where we should park, the person who answered the phone was very rude right off the bat, saying "I have no idea, go find it yourself" instead of just politely saying only street parking was available.

Once we got in, it took 15 minutes for a waiter to even bring us water and take our order. At this time, we could look around and see that out of the 10 seated groups, only 2 had already received their orders. Of the items we ordered, after 30 minutes, about half of them finally came. Not the appetizers, which you'd think would come sooner. After we finished these dishes, it seemed like the waiter had forgotten that we had ordered other plates as well because he said he would let the kitchen know that we were adding things. We had to remind them of the rest of our order 2 times over the next 45 minutes as they brought out our last entrees and then at the very end, our appetizers, both of which they had clearly forgotten despite the reminders.

The food was mostly great but the portions were very small given the price. None of the entrees came with rice, which is different than any other Thai restaurant I've been to. In addition, their fried rice was very, very bland. It seemed to be rice cooked with some egg and a few pieces of chicken, with absolutely no seasoning and only carrots as a veggie.

I would definitely avoid this place...

During a very busy Tuesday afternoon they were able to seat us (group of 15) without a wait. Generally that is a bad sign but since the reviews were good we decided to sit and eat. It helped to have a clean bathroom we could use as we are traveling with kids. Food here was very tasty. Thom Yum soup was delicious but had too much vegetables (mainly cabbage) in it. Broth was on point. Green curry with chicken was cooked to perfection and the fried rice was a good portion to share. Try the Thai iced tea if you like sweet drinks. Service her is very casual. No formalities or hostesses at the entrance. You walk in, waiter greets you and tells you to pick any empty seat. Avoid the booth cushion seating as it's not comfortable. It has no proper back support and I left with a back ache after sitting there for 40 minutes. Also be ready to spend some time looking for parking. Due to the farmers market the place is packed. Overall good restaurant that is reasonably priced.

Each dish is made fresh to order and looks great, I saw every plate come out of the kitchen and wanted to try each one. I had mild garlic chicken and mild basil pork, both were tasty with just the right amount of heat. Dishes are affordable. The menu is huge and they even have specials under $12. The dining area is fairly spacious, booths on the edges with a few movable tables in the center, able to accommodate small groups. There was one man running the front. He is sufficient but not very pleasant. Overall this place is a good spot for Thai food.
