We love the acai bowls from Hina Rae's (the best I've had, hands down! Especially with ube ice cream on top!), and knew we wanted them as dessert at our wedding. I contacted Shelina (the owner), not knowing if a request for 40 acai bowls would be an insane ask, and was so humbled & thankful when she reached out saying they'd love to! Shelina took the time to gather important information that I had not thought of (including allergy concerns for us & our guests), and had phenomenal suggestions on how to keep the consistency of the bowls perfect until we were ready to have dessert (I was wanting a friend to pick them up at 3pm, but we wouldn't be having dessert until about 5:30-6pm). Her & her team knew exactly what to do for the base & toppings of the bowls to be sure the quality was still fantastic by the time we ate them, and with following her recommendations on how to store them so the base could thaw/defrost while we had our ceremony/ate dinner -- they were delicious!! Shelina was super communicative leading up to the day, and confirmed the timeline, day of contact, and quantity the day before our event to be sure we received our desserts :). Everyone at our wedding raved about acai bowls for dessert! And my now husband & I got to enjoy our favorite thing to snack on -- overall definitely a huge hit, and sooooo ono!! Mahalo Nui Shelina & everyone on the...
Read moreI'm always looking for a good Acai bowl so while my other half was at NHCH I headed to Hina's place. When I walked in the young lady came from the back and was super sweet and helpful. She helped me pick an Acai bowl so I got two of those and two of the grilled cheese with spinach. The Acai bowls had unripe papaya with the skin, almonds and a tiny amount of blueberries and granola. The bowl was very bland and did not taste good at all. Pretty disappointed since this place is supposed to be awesome for Acai. The grilled cheese was ok (hard to mess up bread and cheese) with tip I...
Read moreThe service was good. The gal who took my order was nice and able to answer all my questions. First thing- the granola is NOT gluten free, but they allow you to sub extra nuts or chia. Kind of a bummer since it is on every bowl! Unfortunately, the bowl was not to my liking. The base is clearly pre-portioned and frozen thus giving it an iced texture. I prefer a smooth, thick but creamy texture. It was so hard when my husband took his first bite he flung the toppings all over. Overall a real bummer since the...
