I reside in Arizona now for 21 years but I’m from Oahu. We’re back visiting my in laws. Read great reviews about this place. We went here because we were craving some Filipino food after we left the beach at Ko Olina. Called in my take out order which consist of about 8 or 9 items from the menu to take back to Kalihi to feed my family. Upon arrival, I went in to pay along with leaving a tip and was told that they were still waiting on the lechon kawali which I was really craving for. I said ok that’s fine since the lady there said to me (your the one with the big order?) I laughed at first. Then I asked her if I could get vinegar and patis on the side. She said yes of course. After about 10 minutes, they brought out the foods to me. We headed home. Started to feed my family. With 3 little ones tired, nagging and hungry, I got distracted. It wasn’t until my second taking of the foods that I realized that hey the lechon kawali isn’t here along with the side of vinegar and patis that I had asked for. I was very disappointed because when I got there, that’s what they were waiting on to be done in order to give me my orders. So my wife called them to explain the situation and they wanted us to come back but we were already home, tired and I didn’t feel like driving back there from Kalihi. We fly out in a couple of days and now I’ll have to find the time before we leave the island to go back there so that they can credit back the missing item or just get another order. I never thought for being at this restaurant for the first time that this would happen. Not to mention the wasting of gas I’ll be doing to get this situation corrected. Don’t know if I’ll be back ordering here next time in the future when we visit my in laws again. Spent over $100 here and not sure they can handle big take out orders because of what...
Read moreMy family and I are currently preparing for my little sisters Celebration of Life. And I wanted to order from Julie's as a last breakfast with my immediate family before this crazy week begins, being that we love the food here. I made sure to call first thing in the morning at 7am to place my order. The woman who answered was very polite at first and I was excited to place orders for my family's favorite dishes. However, the more I ordered the more frustrated she got. At one point I could hear her literally huffing and puffing. I quickly decided to rush the order off. After hanging up, I realized I forgot to order two more things. So reluctantly, I called back. This time, the phone call was answered by a kinder young man. After adding on my other items, I asked for my total. He let out a loud sigh and began to(what I assume) was pass the phone to the woman from my previous call. I overheard heard him complaining "OMG, SHE WANTS HER TOTAL". I sat in silence both embarrassed and surprised. The woman returned to the phone simply repeating my total twice, very dismissive of me. I know that their morning must have been nuts, because I could hear the phone going off in the back as well as hear customers coming in. And I sympathize with them. I just wanted to share my story in hopes of bringing awareness to the fact that we do not know what people are going through, and my hope is that we treat people with...
Read moreIf there was less than one star I would have rated this place that. Filipino foods if cooked with justice are the most delicious food anyone can experience. I love Filipino foods anytime of the day because I am a discriminating Filipino chef at home for my family. Anyway, went to Julie'z Rest in Kapolei with my wife excited for a taste of the place. I ordered Mongo Beans soup and Pork adobo while my wife ordered chicken adobo and pinakbit. It took a good 20 minutes to get our food cause we were excited to have hot and fresh food even though the place offered ready made buffet style food. To our dismay, the food was not good at all. The P/adobo was very dry and tasteless, the mongo was blanched off its skins losing the mongo freshness flavor of mongo beans, the chicken adobo likewise was tasteless and dry like it has been sitting in the pot overnight and the pinakbit veges were so overcooked and mushy. My point is if you want your customer to come back again and again to your place, you must demonstrate consistency in your food preparation to create a compelling craving for your customers Maybe for some it is just "ok" but I expected more especially when the price does not equate to the quality of the food...
