My wife and I were visiting Maui Burgers/ Hawaii all the way from grand big ol Texas and we were staying in Kihei with family so we wanted to find a good southern styled burger place. Although the name “Maui Burgers” seemed simple enough well we weren’t looking for anything fancy, we just wanted our burgers to taste like they were home cooked in our backyard on our grill nice and charred! We walked in the place and were intrigued with the painting on the wall, felt like we were in an Aquarium for a moment so that was nice for the scenery aspect.
The menu is a LOT to choose from, with a lot of unique hawaiian names that us Texans sure aren’t used to like da kine.. puups.. etc and although we got some tasty sounding suggestions from the cashier working there (believe his name was Tyson) he was also quite the characteristic guy who made us laugh. Anyways, my wife and I still stood there with our jaws dropped at how many items were on the menu to choose from. I bet we looked silly but we couldn’t help it. Really it depends on what exactly you’re craving I guess cause they got more than just your average burgers here and I’m thinking that’s what makes em’ special. Well I digress, we finally just settled for one of the combos the Upcountry with the onion ring on top and my wife got the Makawo I believe with the bacon Swiss. But we decided to add a side of their homemade onion rings and boy we were pleasantly surprised cause I mean when business claim things are homemade usually you got to find out for yourself and we were glad we did! A great addition to their original “sidewinder fries” that came with our combo. We gobbled it down
The staff seemed to be in great moods, very helpful, friendly, and attentive so it was nice for us first timers to have such an experience. We’re only in Maui for a few weeks but definitely plan to come by more than a few times. Maybe try one of those amazingly huge stuffed burgers they were talking about! I’d recommended if your in the area to give it a shot! You can’t really go wrong with a good burger and the many choices of...
Read moreSave your money. We went for my son’s 6th birthday because he wanted a chili cheese dog and they appeared to be able to make one, even read it back in our order as a kid’s hot dog with chili and cheese added. I also requested my burger without jalapeños, which was also read back in the order review. After we waited twice as long as they said it would be, we got our food and bad on us for not checking before we left the parking lot. They gave my son a regular hot dog, left jalapeños on my burger (which was really overcooked), then when my husband went back to get him what we actually ordered (and were charged extra for), they told him that since HE DIDN’T BRING THE HOT DOG BACK, they would only be able to refund him but not give him a chili cheese dog unless he reordered it and paid again. Like he needed to bring it back for….what? To give it to the next person? On to the next place for our birthday boy because this place isn’t getting another penny to mess it up again. Really regretting our $10 tip...
Read more6/27/23 seem to be doing better lately more consistent last time was really good I did try the chicken sandwich recently and was not impressed but the burgers are awesome.
1/29/23 update-, just got my burger, two small slices for avocado, no sauce, no onion but I asked for onion, burger overcooked and dry, dry, dry...I wish Stewz was closer. I will say they were really good out the gate, but not so lately, up & down. Stuffed burgers are still good, but this is the second Maui Burger single I have tried lately that has been a hockey puck, so I would stay away from that. They continue to be inconsistent lately.
2022 Seems to be going downhill, maybe staffing challenges. My wife's Cheese Lover's when I got it home tonight and opened it up had absolutely no cheese, was order medium but no pink at all. No, not kidding, Cheese Lover's with no cheese on it at all! My was good, but rare not the medium I ordered. I have notice that the burgers just don't look as good overall as...
