If you’ve taken a look through our page (pretentious to say, we know) then you know we eat A LOT of ramen. We wanted to try out what Hawaii has to offer so we stopped by Ramen Bones to see what they got. Parking is available so getting to the restaurant isn’t difficult at all, the inside of the restaurant is also clean and service is good. The menu is solid with multiple ramen offerings and appetizers though I will say the price for the food here is a bit higher than I’ve seen at places on the mainland. For food we ordered tonkotsu and spicy shoyu ramens. From the first sip the broth was delicious, very flavorful and not thick with fat like some other places. The noodles were chewy and just the right texture. The chasu was good, not the best, but good. The biggest miss was the egg. The egg here is just a regular hard boiled egg, not ajitama which threw us off a bit. Beyond that the rest of the toppings were good. Overall, the food was pretty good for what we initially went in expecting. If you like ramen and you’re in the area this may be the spot for you.

There was a long waiting line to be a ramen similar to Maruchan ramen soups…. The noodles were uncooked, the broth was exactly the same for the 2 orders we requested, the egg seemed fake, but flavor was okay Don’t take me wrong if you are looking for a soup after a long day this will be a safe place to do that but if you’re a tourist and you have eat a good ramen before, lower your expectations. This Will be sooner on the top of the most boring one’s list. Ps. The service was good the bring the food hot and almost immediately! We spent $72 including $5 tip on (1) spicy shoyu tonkatsu ramen (1) chicken tonkatsu ramen and (1) gyoza for appetizer.

My new favorite ramen place. I was too busy devouring the food to snap a picture. It was SO GOOD!! the broth was great, the noodles were perfect, and the pork belly was PERFECTLY tender, but not falling apart.

Pros: fast service, new, pleasant staff

Cons: this is solely about the food. I had nothing to eat after a long hike and thought ramen would hit the spot. We were seated immediately and menu was easy to read. I ordered the beef ramen and my friend ordered gyudon ramen. When our food arrived, it looked good, except the egg (traditionally a tea leaf egg that is naturally brown on the outside) had discolored yolk which probably meant it had been sitting in the fridge for awhile. It tasted okay. I took a bite out of the beef and it was sour, cold on the inside. When I had ordered, my waitress told me it was a day old but it tasted older. The green vegetable they had was mushy as if already cooked and put into the fridge for a day. It was also cold on the inside.

I am typing this as I sit on the toilet having diarrhea. Please use caution at this establishment as maybe it was a one time occurrence, but I am...

So I decided to give ramen bones a chance since was close to me. I went a total of two times giving a above average tip on both occasions. First time, I did find I had to order directly at the front with them as they were not actively checking in on you. The food was great and atmosphere was chill. Second time I got better service alone and they were a bit more attentive on when I wanted to order. Overall food was great (soup dumpling take some time but are worth it). Overall a great place to get ramen and great lunch plates. Id like to see the dinner side get more traffic and more options on al carte. Also yes staff does take smoke breaks but I found no issue of smoke smell coming into...
