I love the food at the Hilo Hawaii Panda, very good, but they are understaffed and expected to multitask drivethrough window. The servers inside are now wearing microphone headphones and talking to drivethrough cars while serving me inside. One drive through clerk took all the vegetables just before me so I had to let 4 people go ahead of me while waiting. he wrote down on the plate all my side orders and when the veggies came up, he started putting them all on the plate while talking to the drivethrough car so I couldnt tell him to substitute one of the items that had ran out while I was waiting. he just filled my plate and put down and went away... when the next person with headphones was near I asked him just put another available side on there so I could go. The place was very loud and pop rock music added to the stressful environment so I went outside where the music created the stress outside too. then 2 minutes after I sat at 8:10pm on saturday night they came to lock up all the outdoor tables and chairs. what a shitty experience all around... Read moreWe placed our order through the mobile app, chose this location, Makaala, which is closest to our home, paid for it. Went to pick it up only to be told that they didn't have it. The employees were great, they went to get their manager. The manager Shyla was very rude kept telling me they don't have our order. I showed her our confirmation email. She them told me their online order service had been down all day, tried to take my phone from me to look at the email. I told her she couldn't take my phone, she got irritated that she had to write down they information let out a huge grown then went into the back. Another employee came out asked for the name on the order, wrote down the information from the email again, this time I was told that they turned off the online ordering because a shipment did not come in. Manager Shyla came back out on the phone with someone saying that we ordered our food at the other location downtown which we didn't. I asked her to call that location to make sure our order was there. I didn't want to go through thus again down there. Read moreIf you’re doing drive thru, I would highly recommend not going to this location. Two times in a row we were asked to pull into a stall in the front of the restaurant to wait for our order.
First time we waited 20 minutes, until my spouse went in to inquire about our order (our one year old was extremely fussy while we were waiting in the car) only to learn that they totally forgot about us and didn’t know we were waiting for our order.
Second time we were waiting almost 10 minutes, again my spouse went in only for the same situation to happen.
They ask you to pull up in the front so they can tend to the people who are in the restaurant, but they completely forget about the orders they ask to wait in the front from the drive thru.
They need to be more organized. Have a person designated for the orders that are asked to pull over and wait. Put up signs in stalls for the ones they ask to wait from drive thru.
