Ultimate Burger — Restaurant in Hawaii

I was really looking forward to an Ultimate Cheeseburger based on the reviews but I ended up highly disappointed. The burger may have been wonderful but I couldn’t tell due to a burnt bun. All I could taste was burnt bun and (in one bite) a bit of pickle. The patty was perfectly cooked and had a good texture, I wonder how it tastes. I also had the green tea, it was simply colored water. I’m a green tea drinker and you can’t really call this tea. I did enjoy the giant fans in the dining area, fans are so much better than blasting ac.

Second Trip I decided to give this place a second chance. I was the first customer of the day. I placed my order for an Ultimate Cheeseburger with Fries and received my food in roughly ten minutes. This time the bun wan't burnt, luckily, and I was able to enjoy the whole experience. The burger was perfectly cooked but the meat didn't have much flavor. Ground beef ,grass fed or not, just isn't that tasty on it's own. The "house made sauce" must have been on top of or below the meat because most of it liquified and dripped into the tray with the juices from the meat. This made a terrible mess all over the table.

The fries on the other hand were amazing; especially with the garlic aioli. That's high marks considering I'm not really a fan of potatoes. I came at the perfect time, while the shadow of the word GRASS (written over the doorway) showed the word A$$ on a box above the drink cooler (see attached picture).

6/24/22 I moved my rating from 2-Star to 3-Star. I'll be back on the island in October so maybe...

A pretty good burger, with some caveats. Beef is top-notch quality, as well as the bun. But in my opinion, if you're going to serve a burger with a mayo-based white sauce, this should be made clear in the menu description, or at very least, when ordering - failure to disclose the lack of ketchup is a bad call. The sauce wasn't bad, but the overall flavor lacked what I consider an essential part of the burger experience.

And their absolutely abhorrent, revolting parmesan cream dip to accompany their mediocre fries - ALSO without a ketchup option?!? BAD CALL. SERIOUSLY.

I don't mean to come across as a philistine - I won't eat eggs or steak with ketchup, or literally anything other than burgers & fries... and I don't intend to imply that burgers and fries can't be elevated to an art form - because they most certainly can. But to serve burgers and fries without even offering ketchup would be analogous to serving popcorn without the option of salt / butter, a hot dog without the choice of mustard / bun, or a Buffalo wing without Frank's Red Hot.

I would have given 4 stars for this review, because the beef and bun were really good - but they also screwed up my order. I asked for no onion/tomato, but they served with a ton of onion and two slices of tomato, yet withheld the pickle and lettuce. So truthfully, I probably should have offered 2 stars, but the beef and bun were extraordinarily good...

Might try them again someday. Not...

My family and I entered Ultimate Burger after having been ignored at Daiichi Ramen to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Upon entering, I went to the front to pick up what I thought were menus. The very rude cashier at the front responded, "Those are not menus." without offering us a menu or telling us where to find one. I had to ask the cashier where the menu was. I mistakenly believed that fries were offered with the burgers. When I expressed my ignorance, the cashier responded that fries are not included with burgers without following up with an offer to add fries to our orders. She seemed to be tickled that I mistook paper up front for menus. She was unhelpful when I misunderstood fries do not come with burgers. She only became decent dropping her condescending smugness when I mentioned it was my daughter's birthday. She behaved more humanly. Still, I was about to cry and walk out because her attitude and energy were so rude and nasty and condescending. Instead of crying and walking out, I shared the birthday information so she would behave professionally. Ultimate Burger has some of the best burgers on the island.
