Several missteps and quality issues led the hotel to this lower level review. First, room quality/upkeep - several of the couches, linens, and fabrics had heavy staining and were threadbare, with tears and tatters in furniture, as well as bed bases that were stained and not ready for Guests. Additionally, the hotel hallways and some rooms have an odor problem, specifically amonia and a certain “herb”, the last of which was bad enough that it permeated the fabrics. The first room I got was bad enough (see photos) that I requested to be moved, especially due to the smell and stains. The second room was still threadbare with stains, but it didn’t smell and was overall in marginally better condition, so I went with it. Then I requested a luggage rack - not joking, they do not have them. A hotel. That doesn’t have luggage racks. WUT. I finally pressured enough to get one but they made a big deal of having to go to storage to retrieve it. Again, A LUGGAGE RACK. That’s insane. Then came the real issue: parking. Now to be clear, you have to PAY for parking. That is important to note, because for 2 nights of our 4 night stay, there was nowhere to park on property. NONE. Naturally, we went to the front desk (admittedly late at night after a day at Disney) to ask where to park. This next part is not a joke: the front desk agent (female, shorter height, slightly heavier framed, long dark hair, darker complected) told us: 1. The hotel was aware, they had oversold the parking to the rooms due to an event occupying the meeting rooms, and 2. Our only option if the overflow lot was not available was to park on the street, which we would have to move by 8AM (it was 1AM at this point), and 3. Parking fees still applied. What? WHAT?! I think something broke within me - deep and nefarious, because I felt my hair turn blonde and lengthen into a bob as I went full Karen. The result? Nothing. She shrugged, took my information, and informed us a manager would call in the morning. We circled around the hotel for 15ish minutes, eventually happening upon a space in the overflow lot. We were exhausted and went to bed. The next day, though? No call. Not on my mobile, nor on the room phone. The manager never once reached out to apologize or make this up to us. We tried to resolve this, but were stonewalled - management was always “gone for the day.” In retrospect, this is probably the problem. No presence by management, no quality control, nothing. It should be noted that this room was not cheap - and we got it on a third party deal, and still dropped $130/night before fees and parking. On check out day I checked my bill - we were charged for parking for every single night, including the nights where there was none to be found. That, in my opinion, should be illegal. 3 weeks out, Management has still never called. Unacceptable. ||I cannot, in any realm, recommend this hotel (made a TA account specifically to warn other travelers of these issues.) ||One positive: a sweet angel desk agent, Kendall (sp?), who was as sweet as he could be. He needs a raise and a better work...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles LAX/Hawthorne for a business trip, and I must say, it was a rather pleasant experience overall.First and foremost, the hotel's proximity to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is a major advantage. It's a mere 10-minute drive away, which made it incredibly convenient for someone like me who had to catch an early morning flight. The hotel also provides a free shuttle service to and from the airport, which was a nice touch. The check-in process was efficient, and the staff at the front desk were courteous and welcoming. The lobby area is clean, modern, and well-designed, creating a favorable first impression.I stayed in a standard room, and it was clean and well-maintained. The bed was comfortable, and I appreciated the extra pillows provided. The room had a decent view and was adequately spacious for a solo traveler. The bathroom was also clean and stocked with the necessary amenities. One of the highlights of my stay was the on-site restaurant, The Bistro. The food was surprisingly good, and they offered a variety of options for breakfast and dinner. The staff at the restaurant were attentive and provided excellent service. However, I found the prices a bit on the higher side. The fitness center was well-equipped, and I was able to maintain my workout routine during my stay. The hotel also has a small outdoor pool, although I didn't have the chance to use it during my stay. The only downside to my experience was the noise level in the hallways and adjacent rooms. Thin walls seemed to allow sound to carry, which made it a bit difficult to sleep when there were noisy neighbors. Additionally, the Wi-Fi connection was a bit slow at times, which could be frustrating if you're trying to get work done.Overall, the Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles LAX/Hawthorne is a solid choice for travelers looking for convenience near the airport. The friendly staff, clean rooms, and excellent dining options make it a comfortable place to stay. However, improvements in soundproofing and Wi-Fi speed would enhance the...
