The Den Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Hawthorne

There is a stinkbug shaped girl that works there that started off as bartender then started drinking later. She got drunk and by end of night started insulting me and my spouse profanely, but because she was drunk her efforts were still weak. So inappropriate though. This all because I ended up paying credit card vs cash and wanted an itemized receipt. The other bartender, who appeared to be stinkbug's mother, was finally able to find a way to provide a receipt. Overpriced beer ( all beers start 6$ and up other than expired Pabst!) and exceptionally rude staff! Avoid this place! Better options right down the street. We are local and decided to give a shot to support them because always looked ragged on the outside and empty on the inside when we passed by. They even closed for 3 months supposedly to remodel but still looks ragged on inside! Now we know.......nunca jamas! I SEE A PERSON JUST ANSWERED WITH A VAGUE RESPONSE BUT NOT ADDRESSING THE SITUATION THAT OCCURRED. MY STATEMENTS ARE 100% ACCURATE. WE GO TO MANY PLACES AND NEVER HAD ANY ISSUE. WE WERE JUST AT GREEN ROOM IN GLENDALE. WONDERFUL PEOPLE, WONDERFUL PLACE. UNFORTUNATELY I NEED TO MAKE A BETTER EFFORT TO LEAVE REVIEWS FOR THE GOOD PLACES ALSO, NOT JUST THE HORRIFIC ONES LIKE THE DEN. WE COULD GO BACK AND FORTH WITH THE DEN , HE SAID....SHE SAID ....HOW ABOUT TAKE A PIC OF YOUR PABST CANS ON BOTTOM....ALL EXPIRED BY SEVERAL MONTHS! TALK ABOUT YOUR OVERPRICED, HIGH PRICES. POST A MENU! LIKE I SAID ALL BEERS 6 $ AND UP! YOU JUST BARELY EVEN WANT TO GIVE UP THAT INFO ABOUT MENU PRICES OVER PHONE....LIKE PULLING TEETH TO GET IT! ALSO, I ASKED AT LEAST 20 TIMES FOR NAME AND CONTACT OF OWNER ....OF COURSE THEY REFUSED TO GIVE INFO BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEY WERE...

EXTREMELY expensive, especially for the quality of drinks and placement in LA. As a bartender, I’m very observant of what I’m served. These drinks seemed to be watered down, requiring more to be ordered for costumers to catch a good time. Either prices need to be lowered, or serving amount is to be more generous… actually maybe up to a generally higher standard. Another thing I noticed: keeping a tab open means your card is left in a shooter glass which is visible to the entire bar. Not exactly sure that respects the privacy/decency of a costumer. At the very least, a filing binder is needed when holding the responsibility of a person’s property, especially pertaining to their money. I completely love this place and especially because its a dive bar. It has 2 pool tables and a really good variety of beer. It has a lay back vibe and nothing too krazy. You can play beer pong if you want and watch the games and its nice and cool. Its more of a type of place to take a few friends and have a brew.
