My niece and her family were staying here for the night before flying out of LAX. So, I decided I would spend the night so I could see them off in the morning. When I asked the clerk for a room, she told me the rates. I asked if there were any military rates. No, for that you need to book online. 🙄 So, I go sit in the dining area and book online. Unfortunately, I forgot to see if there were accessible rooms due to a recent injury making mobility difficult. After walking into my assigned room, I returned to the desk and asked for a room with a walk-in shower. I waited in my niece's room for a room to be cleaned for me. Once it was ready, I went back to the front counter to get the keys only to get to the room and find it was the same style room, a king suite with a bath tub. I tried calling the front desk, but the phone in the room didn't work. So, I used my cell phone to call and explain the problem. The clerk said he would send someone up. About 10 minutes later, a maintenance guy shows up to fix the shower. That wasn't the issue! He didn't speak a lick of English, so he had to use his cell phone and Google Translate in order to understand me. One again, off to the front desk I go. I spoke with the clerk, explained that I needed a shower that I could walk into, not a bath tub to step over to get into. After about a 30 minute wait, he came to me with a photo of the shower, asking if that would work. BINGO!!! We have a winner! He told me that he would have a room for me in a few minutes. Yes, I share part of the blame for not booking an accessible room from the start.
By this time, it was time to go to dinner with the family. When we got back, I was so happy to get to the room and be able to shower. After that, I was going to lay down and watch TV. I searched the entire room without finding a remote control anywhere. I went to call the front desk... yes, another room with no working telephone in it. The hotel is under renovation, but rooms with no working phone is potential safety hazard. Again, I used my cell phone to call the front desk. Minutes later I get another maintenance man at my room who pulls out batteries for my non-existent remote... 🤦♂️ How hard can it be?!?
Aside from the missing remote and non-working phone, the room seemed to be clean. It had a LOT of electrical outlets and I loved that there were USB charging ports next to the bed, by the desk, in the desk lamp, etc. It's nice to see hotels finally getting into the...
Read moreI enjoyed my stay, and I’d come back to this location! I arrived about an hour early for check-in and I didn’t expect them to accomodate me, but they said they had a room available and got me checked in very efficiently. Front desk staff was very helpful.
There were signs everywhere that said the hotel was being renovated. My room did seem to need updating, I’ve stayed at a newer Holiday Inn last year and I think they’re trying to all get them to that level. The toiletries all came in big Dove bottles attached to the shower which is great. While the room was older, everything was definitely clean including the bathrooms. The beds were extremely comfortable. Temperature controls were also easy for me to navigate and worked really well.
The free breakfast was so convenient and runs from I believe 6:30-9:30am. Sooo many options and everything tasted good!!
The location had many fast food restaurants nearby (McDonalds, El Pollo Loco, and Starbucks just across the street!) and the Arco right next door for cheap and convenient gas.
There also seems to be construction going on nearby as well, but generally seemed like a safe location. Garage was enclosed, 3 levels. It is across the street from the hotel which is slightly inconvenient if you’ve got a lot to unload but that didn’t bother me particularly. The view from my room honestly seemed to overlook a dump, a muddy area that might’ve been the site of a demolishment. But that is not the hotel’s property itself so I don’t blame them for it! But just know to expect that!
TIP: When you arrive, it’s slightly confusing because they share a center driveway with Candlewood Suites. I went in there asking to check-in and the front desk host was very rude from the get-go, before pointing out to me that Holiday Inn was across the driveway. Candlewood’s doors have no markings to indicate who they are, while Holiday Inn has their logo on their front...
Read moreI Am not sure how to start this review. First of all, if you are looking for a "vacation type of feel" THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO STAY. The location is horrible to say the least. The parking garage had countless numbers of people waiting for the gates to open and they would just walk in. I wondered why there were "PARK AT YOUR OWN RISK" signs posted ALL THROUGHOUT that parking garage area. The staff were completely rude to us when we checked in. We stayed there from Thursday thru Sunday and almost everyday our electronic key cards would deactivate. Having a 3rd floor room made that experience even worse, because we had go all the way back down to the lobby to have the card reinstated. The staff kept accusing us of asking to have the cards replaced and that is why they keep deactivating. The rooms were absolutely disgusting. There was ( what i thought looked like a condom) stuffed in the smoke detector, bugs on the walls and the lamps were all damaged. I have attached some photos. We called for this to be fixed but were given the 3rd degree by the staff. We traveled all the way from Arizona and could not just cancel and find another place without being charged for not cancelling within the 24 hour period of the check in date, We were committed to stay at this dump. I became a member of the IHG's website because my father owns a timeshare he books thru them. so with that being said, i did not expect anything less than something on a "resort level" place that would be advertised on their website. not only was this place the neighborhood dump of a hotel, i never felt safe the entire time we were their because of the location . Like i said, if you are expecting a vacation experience from a hotel, DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE BY ANY MEANS!! I am disputing what we were charged with my credit card company. i will never book another room...
