Con Huevos — Restaurant in Hawthorne

Two of us visited the Harbor City location for brunch on a Sunday. The place was busy but with a couple of tables available (including two two-people tables). We were told by the only host/server/busboy that it would be a few minutes wait. Not a problem. However, he was the only one manning the front of the restaurant. Poor man was running around all over the place. We left after waiting for ten minutes to be seated. We were still the only ones waiting and by then more tables were available. But, the one-man-show employee had not had a chance to clear them out. It was evident that it would take a while to order and get our food. It was a shame because other people's food looked quite appetizing. We like supporting new and small businesses in the area, but at least have more than one person working the front during the busiest...

My husband and I are regulars and we love this place and our male server! This time we got a new female waitress and she brought us our food and when I tried the cheese it was a bit bitter and so we let her know just so she can be careful in serving that same cheese (in no way were we looking for a refund) so she left and I kid you not SHE CAME BACK WITH A PIECE OF CHEESE IN HER HAND, WAVING IT AND EATING IT WITH HER MOUTH WIDE OPEN “it tastes good, I’m trying it right now and it’s fine” WHILE HER MOUTH WAS STUFFED WITH THE CHEESE!! And she’s goes on to explain how it’s so fresh etc… And how I’m wrong and she doesn’t know why my husband and I are stating the cheese was a bit bitter and trying to prove us wrong. Found this place as I was driving down Hawthorne Blvd. My boyfriend and I were going else where but we saw how packed it looked and we figured we would stop and try it. Parking was easy, we waited like 30 min to get seated which is totally understandable as they were packed and they don’t take reservations, you just sign in and wait to be called. Once you are seated everything goes by pretty quick.

Let me just say, I am so glad we decided to stop. Food is so good. It definitely tastes authentic, iykyk. Staff is friendly, not over bubbly or over chatty. They are friendly and get it done.

They bring the bill with some Mexican candies I haven’t had since I was a kid, talk about nostalgia.
