Comfort Inn Cockatoo Near LAX Airport — Hotel in Hawthorne

We had an enjoyable stay. We would have given a 5 star rating except for what appeared to be an insufficiently vacuumed carpet and an odor emanating from the bathroom sink drain. The staff were superb-friendly, welcoming, accommodating and very helpful. They allowed us a late checkout without any hassle. The wall mounted hair dryer in the bathroom was on its last legs so, they promptly brought us a new still in the box portable. They directed us to an excellent Mexican Restaurant within walking distance and upon our return late in the evening, they provided us with plates and utensils so we could enjoy our leftovers for lunch the following day. When it came time for us to check-in for our flight out of LAX, they made the computer in the lobby available for us to do so and to download boarding passes. They jumped in to solve a printer problem. We arrived early in LA and they allowed us to have an early check-in ( 11:00 AM) at the hotel. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast area was large enough to accommodate the people coming and going during the breakfast hours and the person maintaining the area and keeping the larders resupplied did an excellent job. This place looks like an apartment building that was converted into a hotel. The room was clean and spacious. It came with a full-size refrigerator, microwave and a cooktop that did not work (even though I did not need it) good bed with nice pillows. The shower pressure is too low. They need to work on the halls to the room and the elevator, they are not very inviting. The TV remote does not work properly, I replaced the batteries but that wasn't the problem so I switched them back. The picture overfill the TV screen and the picture quality was snowy at times. If you're familiar with other Comfort Inns you will be disappointed with the breakfast. However, the two big problems with this location are: The shuttle does not drop or pick you up in front of the hotel, you have to walk like 1/4 of a block to the hotel lobby. From the lobby to your room, you have to walk outside by the swimming pool, is no other way around it, so you know what happens when it rains. When I checked out, I asked if the shuttle could take me to the metro station two blocks away, about 5 minutes round trip . I was told no, that their policy is to take you to and from the airport about 20 to 25 minutes one way. I just drag my bags to the metro station. I had a 24 hour layover in LA and I had seen the tv ads for your company and did a quick internet search for closest to LAX and made a booking online/app. I accidently selected the incorrect hotel and was easy to change/update my booking.

I was a little concerned about the area/location of the hotel checking in around midnight. I called the hotel on arrival at LAX (11.30 pm) and the hotel reception advised to call when we were ready to be picked up and sent to shuttle, this was amazing customer service. The checkin process was easy the man who served us and the man cleaning were friendly. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, the room clean and appeared to have been recently updated. Breakfast was as advertised - waffles, eggs and pastries and fresh fruit. The lady at breakfast was nice, greating everyone and wishing them a great day. There is a pool and it was well maintained and had enough room both in the pool and surounding area for a number of people to utalise at the same time, and got a plesent amount of sun though the day.

Check out was longer than expected - there was a number of people checking in and only one staff member assisting (there was one other person sitting in the office appear not to be doing much). Another guest let me "push in" to return keys and not miss the shuttle =)
