We've now been to this cafe several times since it opened. I might have given three stars in the past (for reasons other than the quality of the food which has always been good) but I am happy to say it has improved. Service was awfully slow the first time we came, and parking was near impossible. It should be noted that each dish and coffee drink appears to be handcrafted fresh to order, and that kind of attention to detail does take time. Orders do seem to be moving more efficiently now, and while it is annoying that the parking lot is valet only during busy times, there is free parking out on the street if you're willing to walk a little.
Now on to the good stuff: the food! Every item we enjoyed was fantastic: Spinach and mushroom quiche had a perfectly warm, flaky crust. Tomato and rice soup was satisfying and came with a crusty chunk of bread perfect for dipping into the creamy tomato goodness. Niçoise salad was packed with crisp crunchy haricots verts, waxy potatoes, sharp red onions, plenty of herbs and a good sized portion of smoked salmon. The hard boiled egg was a bit overcooked. I chose an espresso monkey granita and was surprised by the prominence of the espresso flavor. They appeared to have blended actual coffee beans into the drink. The banana milkshake element was less noticeable but still very refreshing. Just look at the fruit tart - it was perfection! Juicy blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries arranged carefully on a custard base and coated with a shiny glaze. It did not disappoint. From a previous visit: one of my favorite orders is the D'Lox toast which is lox piled with capers, tomatoes, onions, cream cheese and mascarpone on a thick slice of buckwheat bread. Iced Matcha Tea was made with milk, refreshing and creamy Watermelon Juice was icy, like a fresh...
Read moreYou’re going for the vibe. The price of the coffee and drinks is average for the South Bay Area. I come here often for the vibe of the place but I’m giving it two star and the more the employees recognize me I notice they seems to like, not care about what I get. A lot of the cashier are awesome and nice but the last time I order a latte to-go the barista guy was upset that I wasn’t around when he called my name (I went to the bathroom) and the cup he handed me had a hair sticking out from the lid. He made me a new but with regular milk, not oat milk. The cost of oat is a whole dollar more. That same barista has made little mistakes on my drinks before and I never make it a big deal but each time I ask for it to be fix he looks upset and remakes the drink but wrong. The cost of the food is average for a place like this but I would say this; for the price you’re pay for the place and aesthetic. I’ve watch larger parties order and sit 20 minutes after me get their orders out first. And when I ask, which ever employee I ask looks upset. When I got my order after 30 minutes and the French toast was raw!! I cut into it and the egg mix was still runny!! I show the manger in shift and they quickly had a new made but it was burnt. At that point I gave up and left.
Again, the cashier are always kind. It’s the employee that actually handle the food and drinks with not so great attitude and hand me unsafe food to eat. I usually only go now for a drink or the cakes. Haven’t gone to dine in for their food a while tbh if you wanted brunch with a friend there are a lot of cool...
Read moreIt’s being 3 weeks the I being feeling unwelcome and yesterday got tired of the same situation either I order over the phone and they put me in hold for more then 5 minutes the they forget me am waiting the I have to hang up and call again and they take my order. One day I tried to call them to place an order and my sister was at the restaurant already and she overheard same lady (Latina chubby short cashier)the she was going to put me on hold and there was No customers, there was no line, just people eating on their table. So since then I don’t call I just walk in and now everytime I go in and if there’s 3 customers the (chubby lady or a chubby guy both are news) they leave the cashier alone and they leave to the back while there’s customers waiting in line to be help and it’s always when am walking inside or am Next they just walk away to the back, yesterday I called for my usual and there was 2cashiers plus the one packing for Uber eats ect and once the guy cashier finish with a customer he walked away and once I was Next the female cashier told the one packing orders to go to help me and they both walk away laughing, giggling. And I felt unwelcome when there’s customers back of me they stay because obviously there’s allot of customers that they can’t leave but they are so rude. Unpolite ,unprofecional no matter if they are well dressed they are so Unprofetional that they feel managers or if they are I know a manager from that location and he have never made me feel unwelcome just like them...
