I used to love going to Cancun. I went to Fort Hays State University and frequently would go to Cancun. However, lately their customer service has gone down hill. If you plan on eating there, it is not uncommon to wait 10-15 minutes for your server to greet you. The establishment tries to nickle and dime their customers. Recently I ordered queso to-go. After I paid for my queso, the cashier handed me the queso with no chips. I politely asked for chips. She told me several times that I would have to spend an extra $2.99 for salsa to get chips. I explained that if I were to be sitting in the restaurant I would have been served chips for free, no questions asked. She then told me that due to a menu change, she could not give me chips with my queso. I would have to buy salsa, as well (which I did not want).
I figured that this was some sort of miscommunication and decided to write a review on Facebook. Management responded that this was policy, and was not due to a menu change. They then said I wouldn't have to pay for the salsa, but I would have to pay $1.99 for my $3 queso. I responded that it was good to know, as Jalisco's gives me free chips with my queso and that I would not return to Cancun. Another reviewer commented, "Gutierrez also gives you chips with your sauces because that is how you eat them." The review was promptly removed. If you notice, Cancun has a "Specials" board when you walk in. All their specials are actually full price.
Jalisco's, however offers great specials, that are discounted from the menu price. Gutierrez also has an amazing chicken enchilada and an under rated patio. Both Gutierrez and Jalisco's have great...
Read moreI have had dinner here a couple times and the food was always great but the service is very lacking. My daughter recently went to have dinner with some friends and the waiter was rude from the very beginning. He rushed them to order and made them feel uncomfortable. When the food came out another waiter delivered the food and my daughter told him that she had order queso not red sauce. He was very nice and took her plate to get it fixed. Less than a minute later the original waiter returned with her plate she had returned and rudely told her that this is what she had ordered and put the plate back in front of her. She was taken back and did not want to upset him so she sat there and did not eat as she cannot have red sauce. It is disheartening and disappointing that this is how the restaurant would treat young college kids. I wonder if they would have treated adults this same way or if they are taking advantage of young college kids that do not want...
Read moreMy wife and I ate here with her parents the night before her graduation. We each got a drink, and they were fantastic - tasty, plenty of alcohol, but not too much. The server was very nice, but the service was slow, and we sat at 4:30pm, so they weren’t busy yet. None of us liked the food. Yes, we’re spoiled by living in Kansas City, where good Mexican food is often a stone’s throw away and there are dozens of good restaurants to choose from. But no one liked the guacamole (they said it tasted sour), no one finished their entree, and we all got different items. Fajitas, enchiladas, a taco, and even a mixed plate of chicken, shrimp, beef and chorizo. Just none of it was very good - not a lot of flavor. I did like the refried beans, but that was about it. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the margaritas, but we’d go somewhere else for Mexican food in...
