8th Street Liquor — Local services in Hays

I have gone to this liquor store for over a year now since I moved to this tiny town. Things were great, I could swipe my card no problem no matter a 100$ purchase or a 1 $ purchase. I could order online so I could run in grab the bottle and head out with no fuss. Now to "save money" You need a minimum of a 5$ purchase, to use a card, and I wonder... how in a generation of electronic money, for a simple one night drink, we have to use cash. I almost NEVER carry cash. No reason to, but I understand POS systems can charge a lot, but I also know of multiple that charge a low standard monthly fee, and I know for a fact they would not lose money on these, but I doubt they did research on it. They are lazy. I am honestly tired of it. They've made mistakes and I could have walked out with extra money, items, or more change in general. But I was always honest and corrected them. They are not loyal to their customers, they are loyal to their profits. NOW, the last straw, they have taken off online orders so you no longer have the convenience of paying before pickup... they're just like any other liquor store at this point, and I can think of many that would be better off with my business over this one. In fact, I am pretty positive this liquor store survives mainly off college income and farmers heading out of town. In short, the once beautiful 8th street liquor I praised and loved, and would never shop anywhere else, has lost my business because they no longer carry the convenience I desire. In over a year I have made many one dollar purchases in coins to get rid of some change, and many much larger purchases of 300-400$, and everything in between. From at least once a week to never again, this loyal customer is seeing their own way out. Two workers there stood above the rest that I saw frequently. Sadly, I do not remember their names. But bless their souls. They were always great...

I'd heard that 8th Street Liquor was a destination place for a wide selection of bourbon at fair prices. Which turned out to be true! So many offerings including numerous store picks and a few back shelf items I'm working up to after joining their point reward program.
