Puerto Vallarta — Restaurant in Heath

1st time here was on a Fri night with my husband, and we loved ALL of it! Brought our 2 kids (9 + 11), telling them how great it is. One of the worst restaurant experiences I've had! On a Monday at 5, literally only one other table in the place, and they were finishing their meal. Waitress was rude. Waitress was no where to b found after taking our order, begrudgingly. Not sure why, I used all of my 'please and thank yous'. Brought us our chips (which are hands down, THE BEST). A 2 top walked in. Waiting for her return, the chips had been eaten...there are 4 of us! Waiting, waiting, hungry, hungry. I went to find her ..with a smile on my face (I was a waitress once, I know how awful it is to have a customer track you down...but come on! The place is empty. She is pulling food from the kitchen window to bring out.. for the other table!! We ordered 3 burritos and a kids taco.. we didn't have a fancy order. Clearly, the other table who came in AFTER we ordered took precedence. (Turns out she knew them,... they sat, ordered, ate and left before we got even near the end of our meal!) Anyway, immediately brings us our meal after the other table and follows with a half basket full of chips, won't clear away the empty salsa jar that I placed on edge of table. Finally checks on us as my son and husband are more than half way thru their meals. My daughters soft taco is soaking wet in chicken juice and cant stomach the idea of eating the soppy thing. So when she finally "checks" on us, i have the "pleasure" of asking for chicken tenders instead! This did not help her mood and attitude towards us!! She finally offers our 1st drink refill when our meals have been eaten and we're ready for check. Our glasses were mostly empty when she delivered the meal...but again, nowhere to be found, and I couldn't bear tracking her down for a second time. She only became "friendly" when she brought the check at the end...maybe realizing she doesn't deserve a tip at all. BUT, I just can't walk out leaving NO tip (past waitress guilt). She certainly didn't deserve a dime from us for her service. I hope the 6 top that walked in as we were leaving fared bettet than us. We will NEVER go back. But oh,...

I went there last night with my fiance and there was one other table of 2 people in the resturaunt. We were seated and someone brought us chips and salsa and walked away without saying a word. Then about 5 min later a server came up to get our drink orders. Then came back to tell us the drink we ordered they didnt have. So we placed our drink order again and the server brought our drinks and left. Then after 5 min my fiance went and found the server to place our food order. We placed our orders. And the food was brought out to us and the server failed to let us know the plates were extremely hot, so much that I burnt my fingers. The food was great, not that are server would know he never did a check back to see if everything was ok. Then half way through the meal I needed a drink and couldnt see anyone and hadn't seen anyone the whole time that worked there. So again my fiance had to find the server and ask for a drink refill. After we had finished our meal we waited for another 10 min and again he had to go find someone to get our check. I have been in customer service for a long time waiting tables and bartending and this experience was by far the worst I have ever seen. Having to find your server not once or twice but 3 times to do there job in a restaurant that had 2 tables consisting of 4 people in total was outrageous. And yes the food was great but the experience was enough to make me not want to come back and to not suggest this resturaunt to my friends. I did leave the server a note explaining why he did not recieve the tip he could have potentially recieved. I would on a normal dining experience leave atleast a 25% tip last night was the first time I have ever left a 10% tip. This particular server needs to understand his attitude and zero attention to his guests affects his tip. I have been to places the food was horrible but the service was great and because of that I took care of the server with a great tip and even gave the restaurant another chance, it's not always just the food it's the experience. And the experience was enough for me...

This is a tough review. The food is outstanding: 5 star. The margaritas were refreshing and delicious. The service was excellent. BUT...the actual restaurant is very run-down. I've been by it a million times and never considered eating there. The building has been there for decades as some sort of restaurant, but clearly never updated...well, OK, the walls were painted bright yellow and nice wooden (?) blinds were installed in the windows...but someone had a wrestling match with them at some point, the blinds lost, and no one bothered to fix them. While there is a patio, there's no ambiance: a few tables and chairs are placed on an area in front, and the view is of a very busy, noisy multi-lane state route.There's more I could write so let's just say the food, drinks, and service were 5 star. It's a diamond in the very, very rough. (This review is for the Heath, Ohio, location ONLY. They also have a new location in Pataskala that is 5 star all around.
