My son was injured at the Indian Mound Mall Theater because of broken seating. I personally believe that the mall should be involved as well it is unacceptable.
They have a lot of seats that are broken in their theater. For an adult individual who's feet are on the ground, it does not pose much of a threat (it's just uncomfortable). Unfortunately, this theater that we were in does show animated kids movies and for a child who's feet cannot be planted on the floor who is sitting in one of the theaters booster seats these broken chairs COULD without a doubt in my mind be deadly.
I am very blessed that my son Flint only suffered a concussion and a swollen face for about a week after the incident. I am very grateful for this.
My issue is however, that the movie theater is taking no responsibility at all for their broken seats and to my knowledge they have NOT fixed the seats in this theater. After the incident happened a lot of my friends came forward and said that they had noticed broken seats also. That was Flint's first trip to the movies so it was our first experience.
The point is the fact that the front of these seats plummet to the floor if you lean forward is VERY VERY dangerous for a child who is in a booster seat on them who isn't tall enough to touch the ground. In the row that we were in there is a wooden divider that if you were thrown forward into you would hit. My son caught the edge of it right at the bridge of his nose. His face swelled so badly that he was not able to breath out of his nose for a week. It was a month before he started breathing what I would consider normally again.
It doesn't matter that my son wasn't killed or permanently maimed to understand that functional and safe seats in a movie theater are in fact the movie theaters responsibility. Them denying our claim taking no responsibility at all and not replacing or having these seats fixed is a very clear indication that they do not care about the safety of the families who's patronage they accept.
I am very upset about this news and I think that it is unacceptable and any families in the future who's children are hurt because of the gross negligence after being very much aware of the problem are going to find it unacceptable as well.
I hope that others will make a stand and freely voice their disgust about seating situation at Indian Mound Mall and I hope that it is fixed before any other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās a ghost town. The fairly new carpet in the hallways is really ugly. When you walk in through the center main entrance by Masseyās, it smells funny - like chemicals or rubber. Not very appealing. Iād like to offer suggestions on how to improve it but really the main option would be to time travel to 1995, when it was always full of both stores and people. However, a food court with working restaurants is a huge necessity. They need SOME sort of counter-service food options other than cinnamon rolls. Overall itās depressing and seems to be getting worse. Iād advise the owners to do their best to get food options in to lure people to the mall. It seems perfect for a BibbyBop or other new Asian cuisine place. Or Chipotle, or any Mexican, Greek or Thai food. The food court area is beyond horrible. No one wants to sit out in the middle of a huge white cavernous space to eat. Itās even less inviting than a school cafeteria and that is the worst comparison I can think of, with the school being better and more attractive! If I knew I could sit down and get food there Iād stay longer. It feels like the owners literally do not WANT people to come there. If my eye doctor and the only movie theater in Licking County were not there, Iād never go...
