Jan, I was irked by the staff’s behavior but my review that day is certainly not the experience that I have had in all the years I’ve been coming there. When I was in Jr. High and we’d come in to eat lunch your mother was so friendly and would always chat with me and my friends. Through the years her demeanor never changed and I never forgot her kindness. The food and shakes are good, but it’s those memories that truly bring me back whenever I’m in town. I guess I still expect that type of service today, but I understand there are times when a busy restaurant, especially with a younger staff, will have off days. There is no need for a refund, and I’ve revised my review to reflect, not one bad day’s service, but how throughout the years the Mawhinney’s have provided food and service that have remained consistent and positive. Thank you
I’ve been coming to the Dairy Keen since my Jr. High School was across the street, I live out of state now but stop by every time I’m in town. I have been back in town six months due to my mother’s death and preparing her home for sale. I have eaten here many times in those six months. If there’s a Mawhinney working service has always been fantastic and food good too. However, today was a whole different experience. I had to tell the young man at the cashier window to state the amount owed, or, at least say hello, rather than just glaring at me as he did. Then when I reached the second window I reported this incident to the young lady who simply said ‘move forward’ and slapped the window closed. I tip every time I come to the drive through window, but no more! Why would I? My shake wasn’t mixed up, the hamburger and buns were smashed and the patties like the texture of rubber. All this I would simply have endured, but with the bad attitude I received from the service staff I decided to leave a review. If I do return before I leave town, I sure hope there’s a...
Read moreMy friend and I both drove up from Salt Lake. We were both Recently diagnosed celiac and super excited to finally go out to eat at a place that we felt safe. When it came time to get our order taken, Susan took our order. I ordered a hamburger with a gluten-free bun chicken strips fries and a drink. My friend ordered a hamburger and sweet potato fries also gluten-free. I also have a pretty severe dairy allergy so when I saw on my receipt that it had mentioned American cheese I wanted to confirm that it actually was not going to be on there because I am allergic. Susan got really short with me and very rudely said “it’s clearly a subtraction we know what we’re doing here everyone has celiac”. I’ve never been here before so how am I supposed to know if it’s being taken off when it just says American cheese below my burger on the receipt. While I appreciated her informing me of that Her response was very short and offputting. I feel like if everyone who works there has celiac they should at least understand the feeling of discomfort and nervousness is normal especially when eating out because you don’t want to get glutenated. We drove almost an hour to be here and it just put a huge damper on our meal because I was made to feel stupid for double checking my order. The food was good, but I probably won’t be back because I didn’t appreciate how she made me feel. That really sticks with a person. I want to feel excited to eat out and I still feel upset about her response and rudeness. Hopefully Susan can realize that it’s normal for us to double check our order with food allergies, and that she should be kind and gracious especially to people with food allergies because they’re coming pretty far out of their way to get to...
Read moreMultiple visits first 2019: Finally made it to #dairykeen It has been recommended by many friends when traveling thru Heber. Dairy Keen has been around since 1946 so there is a good reason for its longevity, it’s good. I got the #trainburger it really was tasty. The ham and cheese made it that much better. Plus the slice of tomato and pickles added a nice counter point to the meat. The special sauce was nice too. Definitely enjoyed the Train burger. #onionrings were nice and crispy. Usually I’m not a fan of panko breaded onion rings I’m more a batter fan, but these were cooked to perfection and kept the crispness! #strawberryshake was thick and yummy I had to eat it with a spoon. The fruit wasn’t pulverized and kept some of the strawberry integrity. I really enjoyed the food and the fun train atmosphere. A great place to go!
2020: Always nice to stop by #dairykeen in Heber. I ordered a very tasty #SloppyJoe a food that reminds me of my #childhood some hot and crispy #onionrings and a luscious #mochashake
2021: we shared some hot and crispy #TaterTots with the house made #FrySauce a nice Train Burger and a lovely Fresh Raspberry Shake. So Good!
2023: Our whirlwind camping trip ended with a return visit to Dairy Keen, a great fast food restaurant in Heber. I enjoyed a flavorful and tasty #PhillySteakSandwich and a fresh #RaspberryShake it was nice and thick. They use their own mix of Ice Cream, and while I got it thick you can order a thinner Shake, it’s your choice. My husband enjoyed a Fresh #PeachRaspberry shake. He thought a great mix of flavor. He thought with the peach it was even better than the plain...
