This theatre practically raised me. I have spent countless hours (1000+) across my childhood in various “Arts Smarts” shows (incredible youth program) and in community shows which aim primarily to bring together the entire community, young and old, across every spectrum, to try and unite us and create moving art.
The other part of the theatre’s mission is to help people grow, and I have grown in so many ways. In every show, the board, production team, and crew are searching for ways to reinforce and teach each other, especially new skills. In each show I’ve taken part in, I’ve learned new things about acting, production, creation of art and sets, dancing, singing, world cultures, and most recently, directing. This amazing organization allowed me the opportunity to direct two shows in the last two years: one that I had written with my best friend and one of the Arts Smarts Teen program shows, The SpongeBob Musical.
Community theatre, especially as a force for the development of kids and unification of diverse communities, is something unlike anything else. It will change you and teach you and help you to understand others. Give it a shot! You might just discover a new passion. TVT is the perfect place to do that. Come out to support one of the Arts Smarts kids shows, join them on a set-building and set-painting workday, or come to a community show that’s centered on artistic purpose and catered to a unique understanding of the unique Heber Valley.
Thank you TVT for all you’ve done for me. Here’s hoping the growth of the next ten years is...
Read moreWe watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame yesterday evening and it was absolutely beautiful. I was so impressed by the performances of the cast members and the quality of the music, acting, and audience engagement that I experienced at Timpanogos Valley Theater. I've watched musicals on Broadway and seen productions that I know had more money and time invested in them, but it's no exaggeration to say that this performance was as profoundly moving as anything I've seen on grander stages. This historic theater and this dedicated group of performers captured my imagination and my heart. I was weeping through the finale and I find even now that my heart is still tender and changed for the better for having had the privilege of watching this creation. I hope they keep making magic here for many, many...
Read moreWe came here for the Great Christmas Adventure and it was not worth our time. The kids had fun, but we had read them the description of the event online and it was not as advertised. Building a snowman Indoors was stacking white bean bags and attaching felt things to it to make a face. The "snowball fight" was throwing big cotton balls through a wooden board with holes cut out. "Baking cookies and making toys with the elves" was nothing more than playing with a kids toy kitchen they brought from home and hitting a wooden toy with a hammer. The absolute least they could have done is let the kids Frost and decorate a sugar cookie. This place would've been a fun little thing for the kids if the description of it was more honest. What they described it as was...
