The advertising of this BBQ spot was fantastic. Facebook & Instagram could not stop recommending this place to me. I was in the area so I decided to stop by. When you first pull in, you pull thru into a beautiful botanical nursery. No, you won't get your food inside, you'll pull right up to the front steps of your BBQ joint. There was a nice woman who took my order and I ended up getting the 3 meat plate with 2 sides. The plate HAD to be 3-5lbs with the sides in. Brisket, Turkey and their Hickory Smoked Sausage. I'm not a huge fan of fatty brisket, and the brisket they provided was more lean. Unfortunately, while it was tender it was just moderate as far as texture went. The turkey was really good, smokey, and juicy. The best might have been the sausage by a long shot. The spicy macaroni was good but mix it with the brisket and it was bombastic. The BBQ baked beans were also delicious.
All in all this place is good BBQ, probably wouldn't be in my top five but this place is good...I'd like to come back to try more of what they have. 4 of 5 stars for simplicity, the beauty of where this location is & the people...
Read moreAmazing find! It is located in Hebron, Texas (Pop. 32) on the border of Carrollton. It is located next to Hebron Gardens. The smell will drive you crazy! The people who run the BBQ shack are very friendly and knowledgeable. They even make their own hot sauce (Gordy's) which is sold to area restaurants and rebranded to fit the need. The smoker is out front with the iconic Kip's Big Boy Sculpture which strikes memories of hamburger joints from the past. I ordered sliced brisket, hickory sausage, pork ribs, green beans, potato salad (divine) and a can of pickled carrots (yet to be tried). You receive a discount if you pay in cash. A sign posted says that they are the 2nd best in Texas. I asked about this and was told that since everyone states they are the best why not 2nd best? Too funny! Loved this place and the people there. Definitely, guarantees a great meal on the run or for the...
Read moreThis is one of the best bbq spots I've had the pleasure of dining in! It's a unique, classy, Mom & Pop style restaurant. The owner is happy to share his wonderful story (ask about his motto "2nd best bbq in Texas" 😂)! The layout is fun, functional, & fabulous! It's carryout or outside dining only. (shaded, nice, picnic tables). The ribs are huge, the jalapeño sausage has just the right amount of heat, & the green beans will have you asking for the recipe! 😋 but the best part is definitely the brisket! OMG! I like to check out a lot of different bbq spots throughout the country, & I would say this is the best brisket I've ever had! Tinder, juicy, & smoked with some special east Texas hickory! The portions are huge & the prices are small. If you enjoy a delicious, casual, inexpensive bbq experience, you gotta check out 401k...
